After missing two years of gathering due to COVID, my family (four adult children and their children) were eager to have time together. We have a ski boat, and we wanted to have access to water as well as plenty of space for the littles to run. We got both in this VRBO.
Gwen and Chad (the owners of the property) could not have been kinder. Gwen was willing to talk with me by phone before we arrived to help me understand what we might expect. We were not familiar with the area, and she was absolutely wonderful to us.
When we arrived at the house (early) Chad and his daughters were cleaning. We wanted to simply drop the boat so that we might be able to explore the area. It was no problem. Chad apologized profusely that they were still cleaning (it was 12:30 p.m. and we were not to check in until 4 p.m.-- absolutely not his fault!) Regardless, heoffered that we absolutely could leave the boat, and in fact, if we wanted to, we could park the boat in the garage. My husband was delighted.
The bunk room brought great joy to our grandkids. Two patios offered space for meaningful conversation between family members, as well as leisurely coffee time appreciating the sunrise over the lake. The house itself is lovely with plenty of natural light! The yard offers a tremendous amount of space with a fire pit and several adiraondack chairs, where we enjoyed a fire and s'mores each night. An outside eating patio with table, chairs, and grill made our meals feel like we really WERE on vacation, and having a washer and dryer (with five grandchildren) made all of our lives easier!
There is a dock (which we used) although there is algae and undergrowth prevalent along the entire shoreline. When you get out into the main channel of the lake, this is a non-issue. A couple of my kids kayaked (available at the house) from the dock. Great fun was had by all.
I would highly recommend Gwen and Chad and this delightful home if you're looking for a relaxing, easy, meaningful getaway.
