HOUSE KEEPER: LUCA LATTANZI +30 694 9453468
Contact point : PROTO TOURISM OFFICE located at the port, end of pier.
He will take you home (transfer not included). If asked, he can provide you with a car/quad/scooter. In this case tell him before arrival since, especially in high season, availability could be difficult.
MAISONNETTE & STUDIO
Car Parking: only one car place facing the staircase leading home. When 2 different guests are present in both structures at the same time please, give priority to the one already there: one can park on the slope leading home or down the street.
Garden: automatic sprinkler for plants watering. In case of issues: turn water tap off and ask the house keeper.
W.C.: do not throw anything in the W.C., just put rubbish in the bin then take it to the rubbish skip down the road. Risk: blocking the exhaust pipe that is very narrow, as usual in Greece.
WASHING MACHINE : it is in the storage below the staircase (studio level). Common use for both structures. Operating it it’s very simple, though you’ll find a booklet (English version) with full instructions just on top.
1. Switch on the main IN THE STUDIO. In case nobody’s there ask Susanne.
2. Turn the water tap ON
3. Turn on the machine and select the program you like. Usually ‘ecowash’ 30°C does fit every needs.
4. Push START
When it is done, go through the same steps BACKWARDS.
INTERNET – According to our contract, connection is working from June, 1 until September, 30; then again one month around Christmas, one month around Easter. Modem/router is about the window in maisonette living room with access key written on it: just connect it to the plug. WI-FI signal reaches out the STUDIO too: if you rent the studio ask our housekeeper to connect the modem upstairs.
During periods not as above mentioned, you can buy a Mobile USB Key Access (Cosmote, Vodafone, etc.) in Chora paying for as many days you wish. Connection could be erratic during internet rush hours.
At any rate, in Chora you can find a lot of free connections available, e.g. cafés, bar, etc.
HOT WATER BOILER: please, DON’T KEEP IT ALWAYS ON ! In summer, keeping it 20/30 minutes on it’s enough to give you a lot of hot water for 3/4 people (showers/kitchen).
See electric panel near the fridge in maisonette or near the door in studio.
CEILING FAN: easily operated by pulling the small chains hanging on. Just find out preferred option: fan only/fan plus light/light only.
MAISONNETTE
MAIN DOOR/KITCHEN DOOR: please, leave ALWAYS keys inserted outside both door, so that if the wind shuts down one of the two you may still enter the house. If you don’t have a second key, just block one of the two doors.
32” SAMSUNG LED TV: a brand new one easily operated (booklet on the bookshelves)
SAT RECEIVER: essential channels available plus Greek digital terrestrial ones from the TV set.
HOME THEATRE SPEAKERS: just switch it on and plug cable to the chosen device (MP3 reader, SAT receiver, stereo set, smartphone) inside the audio output.
AIR CONDITIONING (open space 2st floor): it can refresh or warm up, it is operated by remote control. Spare batteries are in the small white cabinet in the kitchen.
KITCHEN ANTS WARNING: the best thing to do to keep them off, it is never leave food, sugar, honey and similar out of containers/fridge. TIP: you’d rather put honey pot immersed in some water in a cup. Second thing, spray a good deal of insecticide near the kitchen cupboards (walls/floor), window and door, to prevent them from going round.
Interaction with guests
Since we are not living in Naxos, the house/guests management is left to our house-keeper while we communicate with guests via mail/phone. Therefore it is very important that, may an issue arise on the spot, guests should contact the house-keeper as well us as proprietors. This during their stay NOT after because, once the check-out is done, there is nothing left but complaining.
On arrival guests are recommended not to move out the place dating fixed with the house-keeper.
Should they have to go round doing anything else, please let’s inform our house-keeper by phone.
Final cleaning is compulsory, it is charged € 30 for the studio and € 50 for the maisonette. You may ask our house-keeper for any extra cleaning and pay accordingly.
One of our neighbours keeps a dog in his garden. He uses to bark sometimes during the day but never in the night, that’s why guests are not allowed to keep pets.
Guests are supposed to respect our neighbours always avoiding unpleasant noises, especially between 14:30/17:30 and after 23:00.
STAYING IN COLD SEASON – We have electric radiators in every room, it takes 2 hrs. approximately to get enough warm. We usually set a power consumption limit beyond which you’ll be charged a little extra. In case of power overcharging, electricity may stop. Just disconnect one or more radiators/appliances, then switch back on the main switch on the wall in the backyard.
We have also 2 fireplaces but you can use only the one at first level for safety reasons. If you are not an expert please, FORGET IT! In any case, let us know in advance if you intend to use the fireplace because: 1 – we should check both chimney flue and chimneypot; 2 – we should buy some firewood (extra charge). WARNING, RISK OF FIRE!
