Our Very Private Log Cabin Retreat is situated on your private bank of the beautiful Chalk Creek, and is nestled in the heart of Colorado's most spectacular 14,000 foot Peaks, (Mount Princeton, Antero, Yale), and the Famous White Chalk Cliffs, overlooking Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Pools. Visit the recently awarded Browns Canyon National Park, which is just a short drive away. Spend your day just relaxing with the sound of Chalk Creek at your back yard or adventure out for a day of rafting, horseback riding, fishing, hiking, ATVing along with all the winter activity. For Skiing, Monarch is about an hour away along with all the other major ski resorts like ski cooper, Brechenridge, Copper, Vail etc.. just a bit further. Our 1,200 sq.ft., two bedroom Log Cabin is surrounded by spectacular quaking Aspens and Mature Pines, with views of Mt. Princeton and Antero just outside your living room/kitchen windows. Relax on one of two decks, or enjoy sitting in a forest eco-system overlooking the rushing waters of Chalk Creek. Enjoy our new outdoor fireplace which can be used even during fire restrictions. If you enjoy fishing, test your skills in one of the many nearby lakes, or just walk a few feet down to your private 200 feet of creekside fishing.

Our authentic Log Cabin has a Southwestern/Mountain decor and has been restored with all the modern conveniences while maintaining its rustic charm. The living room has a large wood burning fireplace, satellite with 42" flat screen TV/DVD, player, Vaulted tongue and groove Aspen ceilings, and ample seating.

The master bedroom has a luxurious king-size bed, vaulted ceilings, skylights with block out shades. The second bedroom has two twin size beds.

The large kitchen/dining area has all the modern conveniences along with a working antique cast iron cook stove, if you choose to cook the old fashion way. Enjoy a small camp fire on those chilly nights. If you like to ATV and/or Snowmobile, our location is perfect for connecting to a multitude of trails without having to trailer to them to a trail head. No trailers larger that 21 ft allowed.

Nearby activities include white-water rafting, hiking, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, golf etc., or simply relax in one of Colorado's best Olympic size, Natural Mountain Hot Spring Pools. Free fiber based WiFi for our guests along with Fire TV.

Lovely Getaway
The cabin is cozy and it's hosts are welcoming! My partner and I had such a wonderful time exploring Salida, walking around the hiking trails by the cabin and being able to sit by the river and stargaze. We will be back! 😊

We loved our short stay at the cabin in the woods. We loved the fireplace and the location. The master bedroom is amazing! Bed was great and the skylights were awesome. The location is so close to so many trails in the area. We would stay again for sure. Host were very accommodating and good with communication.

More beautiful than the pictures convey! Peaceful, gorgeous location. Cabin filled with windows, including a skylight in the bedroom so you can view stars from your bed. Best place I've ever stayed in the mountains. Can't wait to return!

Quiet and Secluded Cabin
Spent 4 nights in mid-August and thoroughly enjoyed it! Katie is a gracious host, answering questions before arrival and greeting us with a quick overview when we checked in. She and her husband Curt live in the house next door, but you would never know it. Nice to know they are close by in case something is needed. The cabin is fully equipped, from the kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and outdoors. Wi-Fi is fantastic, as no cell service was noted by us. Enjoyed a doe and her two fawns each evening around happy hour. Chalk Creek borders the back of the property and is very soothing. Don't miss the nearby ghost town of St. Elmo or a leisurely hike along the Railroad Trail (starts just east of the Cascade Campground). If you like picnics, the Iron City Campground (St. Elmo) has nicely shaded tables along Chalk Creek. We definitely recommend this property!

Quiet Mountain Cabin
We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin in Nona's Woods! The rustic cabin is exactly what we were looking for and it was all we hoped it would be...and then some. It was quiet, close to the Chalk Creek, deep in the woods, lots of stars, cool temperatures at the Cabin's elevation. No light pollution at night so you can really get a great view of the stars and the Milkey Way. Many great hiking trails within the forest near the cabin plus a short drive to a historic mountain ghost town. We brought a lot of food with us and had most meals at the cabin which was great for our family of four adults. The outdoor grill came in very handy. Our hosts were gracious, helpful, and kind. They were close when needed but gave us the space we needed to feel like we were home in their cabin! I can't say enough good things about our stay and experiences. I miss being there already. We will be back!

Fabulous Mountain Get Away
A little gem of a place in a beautiful setting! The cabin gives of a perfect mountain feel, secluded, quite other than for the sound of the river, with comfy beds and gorgeous views! Close to fishing, dog friendly and we even saw a moose! So happy we could bring our furry family members, it makes all the difference, and the hosts were on site, friendly and very helpful! Hoping we can come back someday!

The cabin was perfect. It offers all the cleanliness and comforts of a home but in a mountain cabin . . We had absolutely everything we needed . The amenities are well thought of . The host Katie was extremely sweet and made checking in and out easy peasy . The views were amazing including the Moose and her calf who came to visit one morning while having our coffee . We were sad to leave but will be back to this cabin every opportunity we get .

Attractive cabin just above beautiful creek
Beautiful remote location. Great cabin. Owner very responsive. Warm welcome. Better driving directions (nearer to property) would have been appreciated. GPS led us to the wrong area. You could say don’t go on 292a, b or c. Take 292, immediate right after bridge for example. Cleaning fee is too high particularly in view of being instructed to return place to its original state, which we did. Please supply some regular sized wine glasses women can hold (that are glass). Juice sized glasses would be helpful too.

Beauty and Peace
The comfortable cabin is located in a very scenic and quiet area. The bright yellow Aspen all around were beautiful and the creek was peaceful to listen to. Mt. Antero was right outside our door and in view of the relaxing deck to sit on and enjoy the outdoors. We were treated on 2 mornings by deer quietly munching on the grass and bushes. One morning we woke up to a light dusting of snow on everything, which was great. The hosts, Katie and Curt, are so friendly and do everything to make our stay wonderful. Since we've been to this cabin 3-4 times, it's like coming home to friends. And watching Cassie, their dog, run across the deck was fun. We always look forward to coming to this cabin and being greeted by Katie. We will be back at the first opportunity.

Perfect Peaceful Place to Get away in the mountains!
Such a wonderful cabin and setting! My husband and I enjoyed our stay so much - we hated to have to leave!. So peaceful and quiet. Clean, comfortable, warm and inviting. A true home away from home in the San Isabel National Forest. Attention to detail! I can't imagine anyone not absolutely falling in love with this cabin and location. Mountains!!! Wildlife!! Chalk Creek, nearby hiking, waterfalls, hot springs, horse riding stables, short drive to surrounding towns. Can't recommend enough. Just book it!!! You won't regret. We are already planning our return next year.
