Rushing Creek w/Mountain Views! Perfect Cabin for Family/Couples Getaways!

Rushing Creek, Mountain Views Make Cabin a Perfect Vacation Getaway.
Enjoy the best of both worlds----the peaks of the Continental Divide and the rushing waters of Brown's Creek. You get spectacular mountain views from our upper and lower decks. Plus, enjoy our creek with firepit seating, patio, picnic table and hammock. Wireless even extends to the creek. Enjoy all from the comfort of a private cozy cabin set on three acres of meadow and aspens, spruce and cottonwoods.

And now we have high-speed internet for streaming entertainment.

For outdoor enthusiasts, we're in hiking/rafting/biking country. We're 1 mile east of the Colorado Trail trailhead, and just 3 miles up creek from the Arkansas River where it has carved out historic Brown's Canyon National Monument.

This well-appointed home has all the amenities. It was furnished with a family in mind, but is equally comfortable for a couples’ getaway. The charming décor is rustic with a touch of retro.

The homey living room has a river-rock fireplace, comfy couch, club chairs with ottomans and an electric recliner. Two six-foot windows face the mountains. The living room also has Roku, DVD player, plenty of books, and a collection of board games and jigsaw puzzles.

The kitchen is fully furnished with two sets of dishes, pots and pans, bakeware, mixer, crock pots, rice cooker, blender, electric griddle and more. The kitchen window above the sink looks onto the creek and aspen. Next to another six-foot window is a pine dining table which seats eight, and comes with placemats and bandana napkins. Right off the kitchen is a full-sized washer and dryer. All linens are furnished, including beach towels for water activities.

The large upstairs master is 20’ x 20’ and has a vaulted ceiling and king-sized bed. The room also has a ceiling fan and a sliding glass door which leads onto a deck with bench-seating and mountain views. The decorative (non-working) fireplace is set with candles for a romantic escape. At the top of the stairs is a full bathroom. Towels are provided of course.

The main floor has a full bath (tub/shower).

The main floor features a wrap-around deck with a gas grill and a patio table with umbrella overlooking the creek. On the mountain side is a bench glider and side table, perfect for morning coffee or a glass of wine as the sun dips behind the Continental Divide. Step off the deck into the aspen shade for the picnic table, fire pit, hammock and Adirondack benches by the creek.

The area borders millions of acres of National Forest wilderness for hiking. The cabin is just minutes from the best rafting in the west, fly fishing, mineral hot springs, trail rides and golf. Visit the nearby ghost town of St. Elmo and feed chipmunks. Rent a jeep or ATVs in Buena Vista or Salida.

Sample both mountain towns of Salida and Buena Vista—the cabin is exactly between these Arkansas River tourist getaways---just a 15 minute drive in either direction. Enjoy the many restaurants, including the Boathouse Cantina and High Side Restaurant, where you can sip a drink and watch kayakers on the Arkansas River. Amicas microbrewery offers wood-fired pizza and salads. Currents restaurant has good food and live music many evenings. Afterwards, stroll along the river and browse the numerous art galleries and shops.

Plan your own getaway, or we can provide you with links to area activities and attractions.

Nothing short of excellent
Communication with property manager was excellent. The house is well described as pictured. House was well cleaned and sanitary. The kitchen was equiped well for cooking and even some storage of leftovers. The organization there was very welcomed. The beds are comfortable and the master has a warming matress on it which my wife loved. Any window or door opened and you could hear the river which was amazing and relaxing. Mule deer were present throughout the neighbor hood. The fire pit adjacent to the river are the icing on the cake. This is an excellent place to retreat and relax. 5 stars definitely. We plan on returning

Great location with the sound of a rushing stream. Very comfortable accommodations and most any kind of kitchen appliances and utensils included. The owner, Rick was always accessible via text or email and very quick to respond to any questions. We will definitely return!

Great Family Vacation
Our family had a great time at this house and drove daily to Monarch Mt for our Spring Break. The house was very clean, stocked with the need cooking equipment, board games and wood fireplace. The property even had an outdoor fire pit and stream to sit by and relax. Plenty of room and comfortable for a family. Look forward to going back in the future.

Perfect for a Getaway
We really enjoyed this adorable yet spacious cabin. The setting is very secluded and the firepit was a big hit. I was an adult with 5 teenage girls and the arrangement of bedrooms was perfect. The owner was very accommodating when we could not locate an item we needed for the fire, and we would definitely stay here again!

Peaceful mountain getaway
We loved our stay and VRBO Rick was very attentive and helpful with any need or questions. Our kids loved running around outside and building a teepee by the creek. The adults loved sitting outside and listening to the rushing water in the mornings. It was everything our souls needed. We can’t wait to come back!

warm and charming cabin
We really enjoyed our brief time at this warm and charming cabin. The location is delightful, nestled against a lovely small brook with fire pit and comfortable wooden chairs. The house is well stocked with dishes and cooking utensils and has many nice decorations. All was well maintained and clean. We hope to come back this summer with the whole family.

Beautiful Property
My family stayed this past week at this property. It has breathtaking views of snowcapped mountains and an amazing rushing stream, all viewed from the multiple porches of the home. There were plenty of things to do around on day trips, or stay in, relax and enjoy the scenery. There was plenty of land around the house for my daughter to explore. We spent most days outside, but as far as inside the home, we had everything we needed. It is a great choice for a getaway- I wish we could have stayed longer!

I took my family on vacation summer 2007 and had the pleasure of staying at the Wolff cabin outside Salida, CO. Since the cabin is located at the foot of a mountain, the views are breathtaking. Amenities are the same as any home, including what’s needed in the kitchen. I consider the home rustic which is the perfect atmosphere for ‘getting away’. A gentle stream runs along the backyard, and the nearby communities offer many exciting opportunities for recreation and dining. We'll definitely be back again!

It was very cozy
Great property. Only area with snow still on the ground. My boys enjoyed the creek. Only thing was I had asked about having a Christmas tree or decorations since we were there on Christmas and there were none. Would have made the stay more festive for my parents and kids. Every other cabin we have rented for Christmas has always been decorated. Otherwise great every day cabin.

Cozy Creekside Cabin a slice of heaven!
We are three women in our 60's who wanted to find some peace and quiet in the mountains for hiking and relaxing. The Wolf's cabin exceeded our expectations! Their home is comfortable and cozy. Everything we needed was there. You can hear the rushing of the stream from anywhere in the house, and there is a fire pit and chairs right next to the stream. There are neighbors but they are not close. We had some questions about the area, and the owner texted us back right away! The owners are gems, and we hope to come back to stay in their home, we just fell in love with it! The location was very close to hiking, hot springs soaking, and town. The mountain views from their home are spectacular! The biggest challenge was leaving for outings, we could have been happy just staying at the house!

Perfect Mountain Retreat
This was our 2nd time to stay at this amazing house! That should speak volumes to most VRBO renters. It truly is the perfect location…halfway between Salida and Buena Vista (~20 minutes to each), views of the snow capped mountains, and situated on a beautiful creek! The house is equipped with everything you need to cook and relax! An added bonus is the bed heater in the master! Don’t worry, if your partner doesn’t want warm toes, they control their side. We loved sitting on the back patio, listening to the creek every morning and evening! We enjoyed a little fire by the creek one night…I suggest making s’mores! Rick is fabulous to work with, quick to respond to any question. You will not be staying in a generic, sterile condo…if that’s what you want, go to a hotel. This is a mountain home that is loved by the owners and renters…full of character and mountain charm! We have stayed here in the past when our kids were younger, but this was an empty-nester getaway! It’s the perfect location, with the best mountain amenities possible! When you think of a perfect Colorado mountain getaway…this place checks every box!

Wonderful location!!
My husband and I stayed here for my 40th birthday weekend getaway in February 2017. While a little older than most properties I've stayed at, Rick's cabin on the creek is clean and comfortable inside and has a wonderful location!! There's even a garage we were happy to park our car in during the cold winter nights. Another favorite amenity was the heaters in the bathrooms. What a luxury!!! Wish I had that at home! It was quiet the entire time, and we enjoyed quick runs onto the master bedroom deck at night to get a peek at the numerous stars (before we got too cold). The kitchen is well stocked with everything you could possibly imagine to cook every meal. We felt more like we were staying at a friend's home than a vacation rental with the family artwork and puzzles displayed throughout the cabin, which was sweet. We can't wait to get back here in the warmer months so we can enjoy the beautiful area by the creek with the fire pit!! Rick was an absolute pleasure to work with-very personable, easy to reach, and incredibly accommodating. I highly recommend Rick's cabin on the creek for your next stay near the Salida/ Mt. Monarch area!!!

Can't say enough about this awesome cabin!!
My husband and I, along with another couple, stayed here in September. We wanted a cozy cabin, not too far from amenities, but remote and relaxing at the same time. This cabin did not disappoint. From the moment we walked in, we were so impressed. The cabin was very clean and had everything you could ask for. The view of the mountains was awesome and our favorite place was the creek. What a place to relax, listening to just the sound of the rushing water...heaven on earth!! Rick was awesome to deal with and was so kind to check on us and make sure that everything was OK. You really feel like you are "getting away from it all", which is what we were looking for. We spent a lot of time just hanging around the cabin and enjoying the fresh air, the view and especially the creek and the fire pit, but we also ventured out with our ATV to enjoy some of the nearby trails. Buena Vista and Salida were an easy 15 minute drive away and had some fine restaurants. We especially enjoyed the Boathouse Cantina (Mexican) in Salida, which is located on the Arkansas River...excellent. I would highly recommend this cabin if you are interested in visiting this area of Colorado! We liked it so much, we couldn't leave.....even asked Rick if we could stay an extra night! Fortunately, he was able to make that work for us, which we appreciated. Give it a try...you won't want to leave!

My family has stayed at t...
My family has stayed at this cabin twice in the last 6 years. My children were 1 and 3 on our first visit, and 6 and 8 on our second visit. In short, we love the place! The setting is very beautiful with lovely views of the mountains and also a wonderful creek (which you can hear from the house -- what a water feature!). The area is quite peaceful -- all the homes in the vicinity are on estate-sized lots. The cabin also is well-situated -- you can enjoy both Salida and Buena Vista within 15 minutes' drive (and a liquor store and nice restaurant are even closer). The cabin is very comfortable, with nice mattresses and sheets, and it is very clean. It is well-equipped for a family, with many dishes, utensils, serving pieces, etc.(unlike at some rental properties, which are equipped with 4 plates and 3 forks). There also are other bonus items, like games and some outdoor gear. My family enjoyed many outdoor activities in the area including the hot springs, horseback riding, hiking, fishing and white water rafting. It's an outdoor lover's paradise. We also visited the Great Sand Dunes National Park, only a couple hours' drive, and worth every minute. We highly recommend it! The Wolffs are great owners. They love the area and are available during the stay for questions / advice on how to make your Colorado trip enjoyable. And they are respectful of your privacy if you're more of a do-it-yourselfer. We highly recommend booking this cabin.

Perfect location to hike the '14er's.
I want to start off by saying, " We had a wonderful time!!!" It was peaceful, beautiful, very clean, and had everything a person needed. The sole purpose of this trip was to climb mountains. My husband loves hiking and this trip was to add a few more to his list of 14er's and to introduce the girls to mountain hiking. (13, 15 yrs. old) The cabin was in a perfect location for this. The 2 younger girls (8 and 11) and myself stayed back at the cabin during hiking days, but the creek entertained us for hours. They loved it! (It was cold, we brought rain boots) I was a little concerned with the neighbors being so close, (we don't have any close neighbors and the girls being too loud etc.) but that wasn't a problem. The creek was louder than my girls.(LOL) The neighbor across the creek was the only neighbor we saw, and she was very nice. The days that they didn't hike (3) we went touring around the area. Buena Vista was small. Had a few shops, but nothing to write home about. We never ate out, so I can't recommend a place to eat. The grocery store was small, but it had everything we needed and the prices were lower than back at home. :) The Catholic Church was very causal, so that was different for us. The hot springs (just drove by) looked like a couple of rect. swimming pools with a lot of people. (The children were having a great time tho., just not our thing to do on this vacation) The 2nd non-hiking day, we headed to Fairplay and Breckenridge. Fairplay we enjoyed! The girls loved it and took a lot of pictures. Breckenridge was a little disappointing. The area was beautiful, but the shopping wasn't what I enjoyed looking at. (my likes are cute dishes, glassware, nic nac type things.) They had a lot of eating, wine, and high end clothing places. We did buy sweatshirts, so it wasn't a wasted trip. (for parents with young children, only 1 bathroom and had to wait in a line) Our 3rd. day, we spent at the cabin enjoying our surroundings. Rick, the owner was wonderful!! The communication was great!!! Would come back again in a flash!

High School Graduation Vacation
Our family had a great time. We loved the secluded cabin and the access to Buena Vista and Salida. Going to bed with the windows open and falling asleep to the sounds of Browns Creek was awesome. Rick is a wonderful host. Very flexible and easy to reach if needed. We were blessed to find one of the coolest places in Colorado to make memories with our daughters!
