The room I booked 204 had mold in the shower area. Within 20 minutes I had a headache. I figured I needed some fresh air and went for a walk around the city.. I returned to the room, had left the bathroom door open and the whole room then had a musky odor. I closed the washroom door and open the door to the balcony… Went for supper, when we got back, we closed to balcony door and went back to sleep. Woke up next morning with another headache. At this point I advised the hotel, they acknowledged that there was a problem with the room. I asked for another room, they said all they had was room 203 (right next to it) but it’s a bigger room so they would have to charge me 50 euros for the upgrade. I then said, I don’t want an upgrade. I just want a room I can sleep in which doesn’t have mold. At this point they said, we could move our stuff into room 203 and they will see what they can do about the charge: it’s now 1Pm and they said the would only charge 40 euro (plus 19 euro tax) because it’s an upgrade. Again, I said … I don’t want an upgrade, it isnt my fault they rented me a room which has a problem. Anyhow, I was stuck. I didn’t want to start searching for another room at a different hotel at this time.
This is the first time I have ever complained about a hotel. Charging me an extra was unacceptable.
They said they would talk to the owners to see if I could get reimbursed… I am still waiting. If I do get reimbursed, I will update my review.
