"Family trip to Echigo Yuzawa. The hotel was right across from the train station. The hotel was very clean. When you book, please select your room style carefully. I thought I chose a room with private bathtub, but it was a private bathtub that you can book to use for an hour on 5th floor, not exactly private bathtub in your room. "The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. The rooms are fairly traditional, and therefore seem quite spartan to a Westerner. The room I was in had a small desk with a TV on it, but no chair; it had a mattress and bedclothes but no raised bed. This did make for a bit of an uncomfortable experience at times, as it's not something I'm used to. If you're after a traditional Japanese inn, this is a good one, but I know I only had a vague idea of what that meant...
