Captain's House · Historic Mystic Captain's House, Water Views

This unique, seaside, historic home, was built in 1810. Located on the Historic "Captain's Row," with water views all around, and spaces designed and furnished, with an historic, maritime feel, by our Great Gull Island team. There are 3 nautically themed bedrooms (one on the 1st floor) and two full bathrooms. Sun filled rooms, all with restored, original, hardwood floors. We are only steps from downtown. Enjoy the Water Views, the History, the Design, and all that Mystic has to offer.

Sure, we're biased. But this unique, meticulously renovated, historic house has the best of both worlds: sunlit indoor rooms, restored and furnished to embrace it’s history, plus plenty of outdoor space for entertaining, reading, or just lying around. There are great water views of the Mystic River. The interior was designed by our staff. The furnishings were acquired and refurbished by our design team, to provide an historic, maritime feel. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the basics and equipment you need. In addition, we have items like, coffee, tea, creamer, and sugar. Plenty of condiments and basics. The house has three bedrooms and two full bathrooms. The entire home has High Speed WI-FI, and is equipped with smart TVs and an Amazon Alexa/Sonos sound system. The family and dining area are spacious, sun filled, cozy, and a great place to enjoy gathering with family and friends. We are located on the river, across from the Seaport and very near the famous drawbridge.

• Guest Access

Our location is incredibly well-suited to the quintessential Mystic experience. The river is a few steps from our house and quite kayak friendly (yes, we have boats). The famed Mystic Seaport area is a 5 minute walk. They also have boats, as you probably know. The downtown area is a very short walk from the houseThen there's the aquarium, the diner, and a handful of lesser known things to see, do, eat, and drink. We share detailed recommendations and favorite picks with guests upon booking.

We are within walking distance to Downtown Mystic and The Mystic Seaport Museum. We have bikes and kayaks, and we are about 1 mile from the Amtrak train station.

Guests have access to the entire main house. There is an attached cottage which may have guests during your stay. The main house and cottage each have their own entrance and are separate. The back yard and side yard (on driveway side) are shared outside spaces. We do have two separate BBQ grills and outside dining tables (one for main house and the other for cottage guests). The side yard off the main house kitchen is not shared and is available to only Historic Captain's House (Main House) guests.

Great location and sneaky good for little ones.
We had a great stay and was helpful with early check in for naps after mystic aquarium. Had air mattress and darkening windows in upstairs room. Also found high chair, gates for the room / stairs, lots of books and even some paw patrol toys. Walking distance to shops and playground across bridge and great view when it goes up and down. Had short stay but definitely plan to visit again.

Best location in Mystic & beautifully charming house
The Captains House is such a perfect location - beautiful water views and walking distance to everything! The house is very clean and very well maintained. The kayaks and bikes are a great amenity as well, although unfortunately it was raining during our stay so we didn’t use them. We would love to stay again!

Homesick for a Place You've Never Been
The Captain George Wolfe House in Mystic, CT, is the kind of vacation rental that will make you homesick for a place you’ve never been. My wife Linda and I lived across the river for 17 years. Our recent stay gave us one more chance to explore the old grooves of our lives with friends and family. The George Wolfe house is the perfect place for that. Only a block from Main Street shops, restaurants and the historic Mystic bridge. Its own history does not extend to the plumbing. The home has been lovingly restored. All the appliances are modern. Central air. Comfortable rooms. Take it from me. I’ve been in more hotel rooms than the Gideon Bible. This place is extraordinary.

Magical Mystic in June
This site is the perfect focal point to explore Mystic. The house is a five-minute walk from the drawbridge. The main street has numerous options for dining and great ice cream. The house has everything that you need for a comfortable stay ... a well-appointed kitchen, television in the living room and each bedroom (so we can each watch what we want), soaps for the bathroom. And Gerard is a master host, even checking in during the stay to make sure everything is running smoothly!

The perfect place to stay in Mystic!
We loved everything about the Captain's House in Mystic. The house was charming, with lots of period details and furnishings; at the same time, it provided every conceivable modern-day convenience. The house has a view of the Mystic Drawbridge and is just steps from all of the action in the town. Parking was provided onsite so we were able to walk to everything. The host was incredibly responsive to our questions and needs. We couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Big thanks to Gerard!!!

Memorable
If you are planning a family trip that includes walking to the center to visit the quaint shops, a sunrise kayak experience in the Mystic river, a glass of wine with family and friends overlooking the fabulous sunset over the Mystic river, then this place is for you. Gerard could not have been a more gracious host. He was very pleasant and very quick to respond to all of our needs. We had a group of 7 adults so planned to cook many of our meals. The kitchen had all of the essentials and was very well stocked and the Weber grill was fabulous. Must sees while in Mystic: the Mystic Aquarium ( particularly the Beluga whales), Jonathan Edwards Winery in No. Stonington, Stonington Farmers Market The Velvet Mill, all fabulous take ins. As the Matriarch of the family, I heard quite a few times during the trip "this is awesome" and this was completely due to the location and this fabulous house. We will definitely consider staying here again. Thank you for making the experience so incredibly memorable.

Beautiful stay
We stayed here for a birthday trip and it was such a special experience. The check in was a breeze and the host was very professional and kind. Everything was clean and the sheets and bedding were very nice and soft. The historic nature of the home was was made it the most special- we loved that it was kept intact and all the antique touches. It’s extremely close to the Main Street which is amazing- we could walk to the shops and restaurants easily and it’s still peaceful and quiet. A wonderful trip!

Amazing Location!
The Captain's House was truly perfect for our recent stay in Mystic! We've been vacationing here for years and this was by far the best location! From top to bottom, the house was extremely clean, had the coziest charm and everything we needed for a relaxing week. Gerard was so thoughtful, checking in periodically to make sure everything was going well. The kitchen was perfectly equipped with coffee & other items and the dining room was lovely if you like to eat-in. The outdoor patio space had gorgeous views of the river and the proximity to Main street was really convenient for walking to restaurants and shops. We stayed a week but it felt like a month given how we felt so at home and comfortable in this house.

Absolutely Fantastic
I will keep this review short and to the point....this is without question the best place to stay in Mystic without a close second. The only way we would be closer to the center is if we actually stayed on the drawbridge itself. You see where it is on the map so that is self explanatory. The house itself is simply perfect. Bedrooms, kitchen, living room, outside sitting area, parking / driveway, dining room....all perfect and precisely what you need. There is the connecting cottage where another couple had stayed...issue or overlap with them other than friendly hello in the morning and evening. You have all the privacy you need. The house is so cool as it is older but super clean and cozy. We stayed with 5 people and had plenty of space. Bottom line is that if you rent this house you will never want to rent a different house in Mystic ever again.

Great House
A group of friends rented this home to celebrate our 75th birthdays. The listing accurately portrays this property which is tastefully furnished in early American deco and has a well appointed kitchen and baths. Our two favorite things were the table and and lawn chairs facing the Mystic River and the proximity to town, restaurants and shopping. We would definitely rent this home again.
