I recently stayed at Kingston Plantation Condos in Myrtle Beach, which is branded as an Embassy Hilton property, and it was by far the worst Hilton experience I’ve ever had.
The condition of the condo was disappointing. The furniture was outdated, and all the lamps were covered in dust. The phone in the kitchen didn’t work, and when I requested an iron from guest services, it was never delivered. The coffee maker was old, the heating base was rusted, and coffee grinds were left in the reservoir. The can opener was rusted, and not all utensils and plates were available—there weren’t even any spoons in the utensil drawer. The overhead light near the kitchen table didn’t work either.
The dryer was completely ineffective, failing to get hot enough to dry clothes or even remove wrinkles. This was especially frustrating since I never received the iron I requested. Although the unit was advertised to sleep four people, only three washcloths were provided. I called guest services about this, but no additional washcloths were ever delivered. On top of that, the towel rack in the bathroom was broken off.
I shared my concerns at checkout and left a day early to stay at another Hilton property because I was so dissatisfied. Unfortunately, I was told that because I booked through Expedia, there was nothing they could do to compensate me. I was also informed that the condos are individually owned, and not all owners maintain their units to the same standard.
