"We had an unforgettable stay at The Residence and can’t wait to return—especially our three kids, who are already asking when we’ll be back! The hotel’s beautiful gardens were a highlight; we enjoyed walking through them every day instead of using golf carts. The staff were always friendly and eager to help, making us feel right at home. The two restaurants offered excellent food with daily themed menus and live performances, ensuring a fresh and enjoyable dining experience. The complimentary watersport activities were fantastic, with the boat house crew leading fun and informative sessions. Our beach-facing luxury villa was spacious, well-decorated, and offered great privacy, especially with its private pool although the kids also enjoyed swimming and playing with other kids in the main overflow pool. The monkeys occasionally made an appearance around the villa but kept their distance, adding a fun touch. The beach, while a bit seaweedy at low tide, was perfect after 1 pm. The tour guides were professional and made exploring the area a breeze. Overall, we had a fantastic time and look forward to returning soon!"

"Zawadi is the true definition of private luxury! Everything was pristine: staff, property, drinks/food, views, villa, bed comfort, bath products, water pressure, hospitality, etc. The service & staff was incredible- Iddy, Mr M, Innocent, Bernard & Ally were amazing and truly caterered to my husband and I. Mary & Tatu did a superb job maintaining our villa. Noa, Isaak & Evelyn were lovely hosts, always checking on us and ensuring a pleasant experience. Live music is brought in for dinner 3x a week. Snorkeling, clear kayak & paddle boarding are available & included on site. You can also visit the small farm & garden onsite to see where most of your meals/food is grown. Everything is incredibly fresh! Extra activities are available such as a sunset cruise, however it is quite pricey ($450usd) so we chose a local tour operator on a traditional dhow boat that was a lovely experience for just $60usd. It seemed a bit frowned upon by the hotel staff to book w/outside/local tour operators (multiple comments were made). If you’re well-traveled & cautious like we are & want to support the locals, you’ll be fine. Don’t let the staff scare you away from an authentic experience. :) In conclusion, this is a property my husband and I would absolutely return & visit yearly, and as a travel advisor- it is most definitely one I’ll recommend to my luxury vip clients. It is advisable to prepare a well-structured budget, as there may be unexpected costs, such as the Zanzibar government tourism taxes. While prices are somewhat higher than average, which is typical for similar destinations, the quality of services provided is excellent and meets expectations."

"We had a phenomenal stay with Passion Boutique Hotel!! We stayed with them after a trip hiking up Kilimanjaro and it fitted the bill for a total chill out and recharge. The staff, food, facilities and scenery was above and beyond what we had expected. Big shout out for Madelina who really looked after us on our stay, ensuring us we had everything we need and everything ran smoothly. She again went above and beyond and our experience was fantastic. The staff in the restaurant were all fantastic, Anthony, Hassan & Anana really looked after us as well, we didn’t want to leave! We never saw the chef but the cooking was outstanding and we are missing it now when back at home. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting Zanzibar. "

"My stay at Kwanza was amazing, stayed here for my honeymoon and my wife really loved the resort. We stayed in one of the swim up rooms which was a nice added feature. The only thing I could fault this hotel is the drainage system in the shower and sink is a bit slow to go down the drain other than that everything is 5 star. I would definitely stay here again and the staff were all amazing and accommodating. "
