Cub Cabin, A great escape for nature lovers and water enthusiasts

Our Cub cabin will not disappoint if you are needing some time away from your busy lifestyle. It is nestled in the Ouachita Mountains and offers quiet solitude for refreshing your mind and spirit. We also offer a Roku TV to enjoy with wifi (when wifi is working from company), if not you may use your personal hotspot once ready to come indoors.
Our Cub cabin is off the main drag but close enough to town if you should need supplies. It is well stocked with the essentials for cooking as well with plenty of linens. There is plenty to do within minutes. There are hiking and biking trails nearby and plenty of fishing and water activities in the Ouachita area. The Lovit trail is just a few miles from the cabin. It heads at beautiful Lake Ouachita and follows the lake for a beautiful hike and is great for mountain biking too! You can launch your boat within minutes at Twin Creeks boat ramp. We have plenty of parking at Bear Den Cub Cabin, along with a place to plug up your boat to charge your batteries! There is a great fishing pier at the launch site along with a place to swim. You can visit one of the crystal mines in the area where you can dig your own crystals and keep whatever you find. Hot Springs is east of the cabin about 30 minutes. Check out Bath House Row down town. If you are in to horse racing, Oaklawn Park is a big attraction in Hot Springs. (Seasonal) If you are wanting solitude, simple stay at the cabin where you can sit around the fire pit after you have grilled on the charcoal grill. The cabin offers some great star gazing opportunities with a big open sky at night! There is something to do for everyone! Come see us! @ 256 Shady Grove, Mount Ida, AR. 71957. Please note if you want to bring a pet, our policy is no more than two dogs allowed. An additional $100 pet fee will be required @ initial booking. If the pet fee is not made during initial booking please let me know and I will send you the pet fee once booked.

Cute Cabin in the Woods
Plenty of space surrounding the cabin for peaceful mornings and quiet evenings. Just minutes away from Ouachita Shores and Avant Crystal Mining. Not a lot of places to roam - everywhere nearby is private property, you need to drive a bit to wander on foot if you like hiking, trails, water, etc. This cabin was stocked with just the right amount of amenities. A coffee maker was provided (and tea bags, but no coffee). Several spices were stocked. We cooked a meal in the kitchen. We didn't plan on using the grill, but we did open it and see that it wasn't clean -- it had someone else's forgotten dinner on it. There is no dishwasher, and it's required that you leave all dishes clean, so bring disposable eatery or plan to do some old fashioned dish washing! There were no sponges or dish scrubbers provided, just some dish soap. You may want to bring these tools if you stay long term & plan to make meals. Everything was in working order. AC blew nice and cold, fridge is full sized. The galvanized shower is cute but the bolts are right at elbow-bumping level and hard to avoid in a quaint space. There were a few things we noticed upon arrival that were overlooked at cleaning, but this didn't affect our stay. We reported this so they can right with their cleaners.

Great place for a get away!
My wife and I had a very nice stay at the Cub cabin. We came to see the solar eclipse, but it was a fantastic location for star gazing. The cabin was thoughtfully constructed and clean. If you bring a telescope, be wary of the gravel. There is a great variety of birds, if you are birdwatcher. The surrounding area is is forest and of course, Lake Ouachita. Plenty of outdoor activities. Mt. Ida is the nearest town. There are a lot of good restaurants and the locals were very friendly. I love visiting Arkansas and I would love to to return for another visit.

Beautiful, Quite and Peaceful
I very much enjoyed my stay at this lovely cabin. The pictures do not do it justice! The cabin is larger than expected, clean, and well furnished. Basic supplies are provided for cooking including some seasonings, and sugar. The bed is comfortable, not to hard and not to soft. Having a reclining chair was really nice. I would definitely book this one again!

Great cabin! Will be back!
Excellent accommodation. There were some ants around the kitchen area but typical for summer and just annoying! We have them at home sometimes too so it’s just one of those things! Bed was comfortable, plenty of towels, and so many seasonings, trash bags, etc that the property owner provides! We were very impressed by that as many other condos and cabins are bare bones! We hope to make this cabin trip a yearly tradition!

Adventure Getaway
The cabin is just as described! Surprisingly, the shower was larger than imagined from the photo. The location was perfect for us as we were interested in activities just a few miles away. Overall, it was a great experience. I would recommend the hosts and this cabin to anyone wanting a get getaway in an area with multiple things to do! A couple of things to mention. The fire pit needs some help. The bottom was rusted out making it hard to light a fire and enjoy. The supermarket in town did have reasonable wood. Next, the plastic dinner plates with deep cuts were a put off. Considering it is plastic and you are hand washing there is no way to get all the bacteria out. The stove top and fridge were nice. For people with special dietary needs requiring cooking vs. eating out it was a little challenging but we did make it work! All in all it was a great stay! I highly recommend the area and the cabin.

Nice property, quiet and clean. We enjoyed the campfire and crystal mining. Centrally located within all the mines around. The microwave quit working while we were there. No one close to replace it and VRBO had the wrong contact information listed. The property manager was working with VRBO to fix it.

Loved it! Definitely booking again.
This trip was for our 8 yr olds bday and he loves the whole experience as did we. The cabin was absolutely amazing, it was so clean and so comforting. The cabin fits the country life perfectly. The host is awesome, great communication and very helpful. They leave a bunch of brochures for things to do. The fire pit was awesome to sit around after checking out the stars. You can see EVERYTHING! There’s no light pollution from a huge city so the sky was crystal clear. Also if you’re into rock hounding as we are the Wegner Quartz Crystal mine is only a 15min drive and Ouachita national forest is even closer. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking to disconnect for a get away. It’s perfect. Just a little FYI for future renters make sure there isn’t a burn ban in effect if you want a fire in the fire pit . Also it’s located in a dry county so you can’t get any alcohol in that county. It’s about a 20 mile drive to the next county. It only has really one supermarket. So if you like to BBQ and drink a few. Bring it with you lol Overall we couldn’t have asked for better. We loved it and definitely will be back.

Bear Cub Cabin - Mt. Ida, AR
This was a fun, eclectic little cabin. Plenty of space for two people. Nicely spaced from cabins around us, very clean, great AC and the window shades really accommodate sleeping in for those that want the extra time. Would go there again when visiting family and friends in the area. Pretty close to resources, such as gas stations, local restaurants, ice and even a supermarket. Lastly, the owners were easy to work with, and made the check-in and departure process uneventful. So what could be better? The road this property is on is hard to find, especially at night. However, once on the road, the cabin was easy to locate. Markers for the road would be helpful. Bring your own mobile hotspot if you are not going to unplug. Even if you are, the smart TV will need your device to access whatever streaming service you prefer.
