Located just outside Mouliherne in the Pays de la Loire, about 25 min from Saumur, we are completely surrounded by woodland and “Forêt domaniale”, offering comfortable, spacious, well-equipped, secluded and relaxing accommodation for your holiday. The property is full of wildlife, including deer, elusive pine martens, dormice, hares, wild boar (in the area), lizards and bats. Over 50 species of birds have been seen or heard around the property, including golden orioles, hoopoes, kestrels and buzzards. We also have a pair of barn owls who regularly nest in the roof of the main house!
We are within easy reach of the superb Châteaux and wonderful vineyards of the Loire valley, as well as 2 magnificent zoos and the world-famous French National Riding School and the Cadre Noir of Saumur. Golf, water sports, fishing, hiking, walking/rambling and cycling are all close by. The larger towns of Tours and Angers are an easy 45-minute drive away, and we are also ideally situated for all the events at Le Mans, as well as the equestrian competitions at Saumur.
In November 2022 we were very proud to be re-awarded 4 stars in the category of Meublé de Tourisme (furnished holiday accommodation) by the Anjou Tourist Board, for the quality and comfort of the accommodation, the quality of the amenities and the range of services and facilities. This rating lasts for 5 years.
The gîte is the oldest part of the property and is thought to have been built around 1700. It features exposed beams throughout, many of which are original. Please note that although the ceilings on the ground floor are 3m high, some of the beams on the first floor are quite low. Taller guests may need to mind their heads!
The property is very eco-friendly, having double-glazed windows and doors to keep the place warm in winter, plus 80cm thick walls to help keep it cool in summer. All the rooms have low energy LED lighting.
For autumn and winter breaks, there are thermostatically controlled electric radiators in all rooms, plus a 6kW Invicta wood burner in the living room. The weekly tariff includes electricity for the radiators and all logs for the wood burner.

We ask you to leave some time at the end of your stay to ensure the property is left clean and tidy as far as is reasonably practicable, in order to allow us enough time to ensure that everything is as clean and hygienic as possible for our next guests.
At every changeover, we always clean and disinfect all floors, kitchen work surfaces, bathroom sanitary wares, table tops and hard-back chairs. We also disinfect high-touch surfaces such as light switches, door handles, handrails and remote controls.
There are smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors in the kitchen and in the lounge, and a smoke detector on the first-floor landing. We test each of these at every changeover.
In the kitchen, there is a fire blanket and a powder fire extinguisher that is suitable for fires involving wood, paper and textiles (fire type A), flammable liquids such as petrol, diesel and oil (fire type B) and gases (fire type C).
Our Welcome Pack includes a bottle of local sparkling wine, milk, butter, eggs, biscuits, to-cook bread, viennoiseries, jam, a small quantity of tea, coffee and sugar, plus whatever seasonal produce we have available from our garden.

The garden is surrounded by wire mesh fencing for the security of young children and/or animals. There is plenty of parking space, including a covered barn if required.
