A visit to the Giffre Valley and surrounding mountains is a rare treat. Dubbed a "playground in the Alps" or the "Dream Valley" there's something for everyone - from parapenting or tandem parapenting, whitewater rafting or fishing in the river, sunbathing by the swimming pool in Samoens or dipping in the lake at Lac Bleu, golfing on one of the many 18-hole courses in the area to meandering through the local markets, botanical gardens or local heritage sites. The Mountain biking in Summer is world-class and extensive for all abilities with access to a system of ski lifts adapted to take mountain bikes. Of course there's skiing in Winter and you have access to 5 resorts, but also snow mobiling, heliskiing, ice climbing, snow shoeing, yooner and ice skating. Stay at Chez les Amis and you will be spoilt for choice of activities in Winter or Summer.

Chez les Amis is a home away from home and guests often say that it is well equipped, particularly the kitchen. It has two bedrooms with a private entrance, a garden with grass lawn (50 sq meters), a back and front terrace and separate private covered parking. It is a spacious (57 sq meters) yet cozy, open-plan apartment on the ground floor of a traditional Savoie farmhouse renovated in the 1990’s. It has been furnished to a high specification with local wood furniture including an artisan dresser and pine dining table. The apartment is uncluttered and well-equipped and is suitable for families, couples or groups of friends.

Chez les Amis is well positioned for stunning views of Mount Criou (which you can hike - rated difficult) and the Dents Blanches mountain ranges, which can be enjoyed from the garden. You can hike/bike for miles from our doorstep, or have a BBQ on the back or front patios and relax on the sloping lawn taking in the view with a glass of local wine.

When they are not down at Lac Bleu or at the swimming pools in Samoens, our kids spend their time playing games on the lawn, catching butterflies in the next door meadow or walking just up the hill to the stream to build a damn. Activities in Spring/Summer are endless. Mountain biking is fantastic in Spring/Summer and the lifts open to allow access to some amazing bike runs. One of our favourites with kids is the Woodpecker in Les Carroz. One of the local road cycling routes, the Col de Joux Plane hosted the Tour de France recently and is a spectacular ride up or down with stunning views.

In Winter, skiing in the Grand Massif (Europe's third largest skiing domain with 265km ski runs) is superb and only a few mins drive to the nearest ski lift with a large free car park opposite, ski hire shops and apres-ski bars and restaurants.

Chez les Amis ideally sleeps 4 people (but can accommodate 5 using the double sofabed in the living area or the large travel cot for age 3 and under). We have a double room, twin room and a double sofa bed. Beds are made up prior to your arrival - bed and kitchen linens, bath towels and hand towels are provided. An allocation of firewood is provided for the cozy wood burning stove. A travel cot, high chair & buggy are available on request (at no extra cost - subject to availability).

There is a marvelous wood burning stove in the lounge with a large sofa, armchairs, foot rests, a generous oak coffee table and side tables. There's a stereo with an iPod/iPhone/iPad connection cable, a library of books, CD's and DVD's. Most books are in English but we are growing our library of French books for kids. WiFi is provided free of charge for the convenience of our guests.

The kitchen is fully fitted with a fridge, sink, oven, hob, dishwasher and new washing machine. There is an air dryer for drying clothes or wet ski gear. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking and baking equipment. The kitchen / dining areas are separated by a long breakfast bar with 2 high stools. The dining area seats 6 and has an Artesian pine dresser fully stocked with white plates, glasses, champagne flutes, serving dishes, salad bowls, pasta bowls and cereal bowls - everything needed for a leisurely breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The newly tiled bathroom comprises a bath with glass screened shower over the bath and a sink with lighted mirror and large heated towel rail. There is a separate newly furnished WC which also has a sink with storage and a mirror, so each bedroom has access to a sink outside each bedroom for brushing teeth and washing faces.

The 'cave' (outside storage) contains outdoor furniture - a new wooden table with six chairs - and a BBQ. There is a further table and two chairs for the front terrace. The cave can also store kids bikes (with additional space for bike storage in the covered parking next to your vehicle).

Inside the apartment you’ll find some games and sports equipment for you to use including a badminton set with net, racquets and tennis racquets.

Do Not Miss This Property!
Chez les Amis is the best skiing apartment we have visited so far. It's very spacious, with a large comfy living area; and 2 good sized bedrooms. The bathroom (with a bath for easing old skiers' bones!) and toilet are very up to date and spotlessly clean. But the apartment is much more than that... it is well equipped with everything you might need for a long stay, from a well stocked kitchen to lovely crockery and glasses, washing machine and dishwasher. Plenty of hot water too, and that's really important. The apartment was better than advertised in our view. The location is great if you are happy with a quiet hamlet, and don't mind driving to the lifts each day- we didn't, and found the location excellent. Rachel the owner is very responsive, and friendly in her responses too- nothing seemed too much trouble. The neighbours upstairs are permanent expats, and very friendly and full of good advice. We'd love to go again, and will very likely do so. Colin and Pauline South Wales

Fabulous - we will be back!
We had a brilliant time during our stay. The apartment itself is great. Bright and homely, it was equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed relaxing there in between trips and the beds were super comfy. We felt very at home. We also loved relaxing in the garden and barbecuing whilst enjoying the fabulous views of the nearby mountain ranges. The area itself is brilliant and the property is ideally positioned. We had easy access to restaurants, bakeries and shops. We went on a number of walks and enjoyed cycling as well as swimming in a nearby lake. There was so much to do we definitely plan on being back sometime soon.

Lovely stay in Morillon
We were really impressed with the service and communication from the owner from first booking and very impressed with the HomeAway app. The apartment was easy to find with the directions and a 15 min walk into the village. We had a couple of issues which the owner Rachel was quick to reply to text message. We loved our holiday. We would highly recommend Parc Du Merlet an hours drive and a steep walk but the views of Mount Blanc are stunning. We also hired bikes and our son used the new bike track at the lake in Morillon. It is definitely a holiday we will do again in a few years time again.

Morillon was fab
We had a wonderful time staying at Chez Amis. The weather was fantastic, and the chalet was perfect. It was cool, clean and very comfortable. There is so much to do in the area and we particularly loved the lake in the village to swim in as it has a paddling section and we had two toddlers with us. There was plenty of advice and information provided at Chez Amis and the neighbours were extremely helpful too! We walked to the bakery every morning, walked along the river, walked up to a viewing point, went to Lake Annecey for a day and swam lots! Never been to the Alps before so we will certainly be back again!!! Thank you so so much!

Another great stay!
This is the 3rd year in succession we have stayed at Chez Amis. Still lovely and peaceful with the sun coming around for late afternoon drinks outside when we return from the slopes, and/or cosy fire inside if the weather is cold (and generally at Spring we seem to get all weather!). No complaints at all..

Cozy Mountainside Getaway in a Magical Little Villiage
Everything was perfect! I can't wait to stay here again! It was charming and cozy, with a fully stocked kitchen, comfortable beds, and plenty of fire wood to keep the fire crackling. Just outside the door is a magical mountain trail with foot bridges over little mossy streams and water falls. There is a classic French bakery just down the street, and a handy large supermarket just 10 minutes away. The hosts are friendly, communicative, and eager to help. Ace place!

Excellent apartment in great location
As a family of 4 we had a great stay in Chez Amis. It’s a lovely apartment in a great location. 5 min drive to the ski lift and some mornings a nice 15-20 min walk into the village to buy bread. The welcome basket was appreciated after the drive down. Excellent communication from Rachel, answering any questions we had and being most helpful. Comfortable lounge/dining area and kitchen had everything we needed. Great ski area and it was quick and easy to get over to the Flaine bowl. Snow conditions allowed us to ski all the way back down to Morillon.

Just what we required
Lovely apartment that worked well for our needs - we drove from England for 4 days skiing over our daughter's birthday. Layout excellent for 2 couples. We cooked every night in well-equipped kitchen (even managed a birthday cake, of sorts!) and enjoyed the cosiness of the woodburner. Able to get warm and dry out our kit each night. Access to skiing was an easy 5 mins drive to the gondola in Morillon. Snowed hard the whole time - so great skiing but couldn't really appreciate the views! Thank you for sharing your holiday home.

Back for the 4th time and loved it as always
We came back for a surprise long weekend for my partner's 40th, and even in late November, Chez Amis and its surroundings didn't fail to charm. Beautiful days ski touring in the Grand Massif, cozy fireside evenings, fresh pastries from the village bakery, yummy meals cooked in the perfectly kitted out kitchen, that priceless view of Le Criou in the sunset, runs in the forest just up the road and great sleep in comfy beds in the peace & quiet of Les Miaux. A straightforward hour's drive from Geneva, there was nowhere better to go for a short winter break with our toddler, who was thrilled to be reunited with the kids, cats, and dogs of Les Miaux.

Lovely, cosy, home away from home
We absolutely loved staying at Chez Amis. It's such a great place. When we arrived, it was lovely and warm in there, complete with chocolates on the pillow and a basket of food and wine which was very welcome after a long journey. Instantly felt so cosy, homely and a charming Savoyard style. Top 5 things we particularly like about Chez Amis: 1: The incredibly well-equipped kitchen. If like us you enjoy cooking there's everything you need in there to cook up a storm. 2: Location is great - only 5 mins drive to the ski lift and the roads are cleared incredibly quickly when it snows. If you ever need a change from Grand Massif you have Les Gets and Morzine only 20 mins away. 3: The log burner gets the place really toasty even on extremely cold nights. 4: Comfy beds - much needed after a hard day's skiing. 5: The owners are very friendly and genuinely want to enjoy your stay. Thanks Rachel, we will be back.

Loved it so much we came back again :)
We had such a great time here in January we came back again to catch the end of the ski season in March. Once again, Chez Amis didn't disappoint. Just like last time, the place was welcoming and ready for us. We laughed at the other review pointing out the small toilet - you really don't need to spend much time in there! It's absolutely fine :) Grand Massif still has a lot to offer in the late season, particularly the snow higher up in Flaine which you can access from the local lift in Morillon. As it got warmer down in the valley we loved spending time at Lac Bleu. When you're in ski gear up the mountain in the morning and shorts and a t-shirt by the lake in the afternoon you know you're in a special place! We're already planning to come back again in the early summer once the snow has gone. Thanks again Chez Amis

Cosy, well-equipped apartment in a peaceful location
We had a great stay at Chez Amis for an end of season ski week with our two children (7 & 5) in the Grand Massif. The property is located in a tiny hamlet - very peaceful and relaxing, no stress at all! A short stroll from the property we found a waterfall tumbling through the woods, which the kids enjoyed. The property is well equipped and so no problem with cooking for ourselves. There is a large wood burner and plenty of firewood for cold nights - we used it once and it creates a nice atmosphere. The owners are very attentive and accommodating and were keen that we enjoyed our stay - thank you Rachel! The weather was so good that we were able to enjoy the afternoon sunshine sat outside the front of the property. The WiFi was an added bonus and worked throughout our stay. All in all a great place for a family of four and at a good price. We will be looking to return next year.
