Morgex, which has always been called "Heart of the Valdigne", is located at 923 meters above sea level, the Municipality of Morgex is best known for the famous wine D. O.C. "Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle" (the highest wine in Europe).
Thanks to this close link with nature, special attention has been paid to the environment, resulting in the creation, a few steps from the town, of numerous and easy hiking routes for both the adult and the child, of tracks for mountain biking, and spaces to get closer to horseback riding and to experiment the most adventurous sports, such as rafting in the tumultuous waters of the Dora Baltea, climbing in the safe and equipped rock climbing wall or, in the middle of winter, in the "Icepark" on icy paths.
The village of Morgex is characterized by two particular monuments to visit: the first is the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, of early Christian origin, with its baptismal font, the fifteenth-century frescoes and the Romanesque bell tower, and the second is the Tour de l ' Archet, whose foundations date back to around the year 998 (recently restructured and now home to the "Natalino Sapegno Historical-literary Studies Center" Foundation).
In the numerous villages of the municipality there are interesting chapels with frescoed vaults and in the La Ruine area we point out the Pascal Fortress.
The municipal territory is dotted with several lakes, such as Lake Liconi, Lake d'Arpy and Lake Pierre Rouge, from which the main local tributaries of the Dora Baltea branch off. There are numerous hamlets, some scattered on the valley floor, others perched on the slope of the mountains, all connected by easily passable roads.
Between the Villair and the Dailley flourish the highest vineyards of Europe, from which a fine wine with a pleasant taste is produced, which obtained in 1985 the D. O.C. Valle d'Aosta, the Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle.
