A beautiful country inn with quaint rooms. The restaurant is excellent with food of a high standard. The staff are absolutely excellent and very helpful and efficient. A nice touch is the small hamper in the room with a few goodies, but it would have been nice maybe to have some fruit rather than crisps and sweets.
It's great that the inn is adults only, but it is dog friendly and whilst most dogs I encountered there were well behaved, one guest insisted on having their dog on their lap when dining, with it's snout resting on the table. I know this is down to the owners of the dog and not the management of the pub, but perhaps a gentle word could have been had asking for the dog to be placed on the floor. No doubt dog owners will moan at me for this comment, but I really don't think it appropriate for a dog to be on a table in a restaurant. Additionally I am allergic to dogs so have to be careful around them.
However, in summary we had a lovely time at the Horse and Groom and the issue with the dog wouldn't put us off coming again. Thank you to everyone.
