"We found the hotel to be friendly and well organised despite the fact that it was undergoing substantial refurbishment. We were particularly pleased that we could avail ourselves of free tea and coffee throughout our stay."

"The security was very rude and intimidatory. They Would not allow me into the property without my key card. I explained that my friend has the key card and went back to the room early. I was the lead guest in the booking. I had email confirmation, my ID and the card I used to pay. Hotel security still refused me entry. I had to call the reception desk to get approval access. This was 4am. Prior to this rude hiccup I enjoyed my stay. After this incident it put a dampen on the rest of the trip."

"Lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. Staff were polite and helpful. Room was larger than expected and the bed so very comfortable. There was a wide selection of foods available at Breakfast for even fussiest of eaters. Did not use Spa/pool etc but have decided will go back later in the year and enjoy it all !!"

"Good for the cost though seemed slightly understaffed over the Christmas period perhaps. Gym and pool area decent, nice staff across site. Needs a little spruce up of exterior and recycling bins as an improvement. "

"The hotel is a old building but it is in good shape. We enjoyed it there for our weekend stay. Not sure if we'd stay again. Wouldn't put anyone off staying here. Room was a bit cold . We was given a electric heater which was good overall enjoyable "

"Good: amazing hospitality, clean, great room service, free car parking. Improvements: pool water too cold, no lift but staff helped with the luggage, fire alarm faulty and went off at 6am however the hotel compensated by providing free late checkout. "

"When I booked my accommodation I specifically asked for a quiet location and was allocated apartment 4 on the ground floor. This is a small but very well equipped room with an ensuite and was fine for my 6 nights stay On arrival, there were a few teething problems but the staff (via phone calls)were absolutely brilliant with their help and patience for which I was extremely grateful. The Madison is about a 20 mins walk from the station and the location is quiet and safe. There are no immediate...

"Absolutely amazing stay. We went over New Year with two dogs. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a New Year’s Eve party going on directly below us and we didn’t hear a thing. Ordered room service and the food was sublime. The dog’s had a turn down service with treats in their bowls. Gorgeous hotel. Amazing staff. Great food. Can’t wait to go back. Don’t be put off by the parking. It’s very easy and close to the hotel and very affordable."

New Year with dog

"We stayed 2 nights over the New Year. It is very near my family so very convenient. We had our dog with us and were given an amazing room on the ground floor with a door to the garden. Very convenient. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. I won't stay anywhere else now when I visit the family. Food is very good, we have eaten here with family before, and we were able to take dog into breakfast so no worries about leaving him in the room. We thoroughly recommend this hotel! Thank you Potters Heron for a lovely stay. The dog loved it too!"
