"Warm cosy and comfortable property with 'character' and in a good location for visiting Vézelay and area. Renovated and modernised inside to a good standard, with pleasant outdoor seating areas. Bring your own teapot if you need one! A useful bread van comes 3 times a week with baguettes. Nearest village shops (in St Père) are about a 10 minute drive. Neither our 'school' French nor the owners' English was good so the booking process via the web site emails wasn't easy. The whole booking process...

"This is a great location if you want to get away from the bustle of the city. The cottage is beautifully furnished and very cosy. A couple of benefits that hadn't jumped out in the listing include the toilet being separate from the shower, and a washing machine and drier. Penelope was really helpful and answered our questions quickly. "Great spot to stay, clean rooms & friendly owners. Bedroom tighter than expected. Biggest issue was with Vrbo as had not sent request before staying for second payment / invoice & had not been paid, was rather embarrassing. Doubt if using again."

"I was hoping for a few days of quiet in nature, and that is exactly what I got. I remembered what stars look like, fell asleep to the sound of a river, and read to my heart's content, warmed by a real fire. The hosts were incredibly thoughtful and responsive. The cottage isn't too far from wine chateaux (about an hour) and a couple of ancient dolmens, not to mention the beautiful Vézelay Abbey (about 40 minutes), if you want to venture out."

"Adequate for 2 but with such limited table space in the kitchen/living space we couldn't see how 3 or 4 people could manage. No wardrobe in main bedroom and wardrobe in second bedroom had very little hanging space. Each of the 3 rooms had airconditioning but no means of switching it on. On sweltering days it would have been very welcome"

"Large property perfect for large groups. Easy to cater with plenty of equipment Large pool and wonderful gardens. Security and privacy were an issue with interior doors not closing properly and keys and locks not working. The host did send a locksmith to fix some of the problems. Beds and bedding a little tired . With some better maintenance on this property it could be perfect."
