"The host, Andrea is exceptional. That on its own made staying at Carugio earn its worth. He communicated all necessary details in advance and leading up to our arrival, including how to access the building if arriving late (trains are always late!). He took every possible effort to ensure our visit to Cinque Terre was optimal, including advice about precise itineraries to visit the 5 towns. No need to plan and in fact I abandoned my own 2-day itinerary having done it 4 times already. Andrea's was not only a nice change for me it is in fact better since it took us into one of the towns to an excellent lunch spot we would never have discovered on our own. The room was perfect, shower quite spacious and all well constructed. Very comfortable. Although a little walk up the main road of the historical side of Monterosso, it was super quiet. This was just what we needed after noisy Rome. I've traveled all over Italy for several years and Andrea has made my list of top hosts. We will stay at Carugio again. "

"This hotel was very affordable and on a great location. Super close to La Spezia Centrale train station with great access to Cinque Terre transportation. Continental breakfast was awesome with unlimited coffee. The room was kind of small, but super clean every day. Totally recommmended."

"This was one of our favorite stays on our trip. Nothing beats the view of the ocean and watching the clouds roll in with the church bell chiming in the background. Continental breakfast was great for the price of free. The only thing worth advising is that there are A LOT of steps to get up to the hotel, and with baggage it is not a task to be taken lightly. There is a second elevator in the town that would have solved this problem, but it is still closed for renovation. We managed though, and enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff and amazing location."

"Around a 10 minute walk from the train station and centrally located for restaurants and bars and around a 10 minute walk to the port. Check in is at a different location just around the corner and staff were friendly and helpful. Comfy bed, quiet location and great bakery just across the street. "

"It was very good. Staff extremely helpful and lots recommendations. Breakfast at the hotel very good choices, and would highly recommend taking the rate with breakfast included, unless you have a car. They have a restaurant very good too. Hotel has a nice terrace port view and great to have drinks that you get at the lobby bar. "
