This property is in need of a huge remodel. The roooms are dingy and boring. The third floor hall that goes downhill made me question the safety. Most of all there are NO ELEVATORS! This should be very prominent in the advertising. This is very sad because this hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Carmel. Time for an update guys. Staff was excellent . Go to Restaurant was excellent.

The Pine Inn is the "Grand Old Lady" of Carmel. Multiple generations of faithful travelers have stayed there for it's charm, attentive staff & gracious hospitality. It is not there anylonger. The dining area does not open early. I got my coffee across the street. I sat in the dining room to wait for my friend to come down from their room. I was told "nothing is free lady, you can't sit there unless to order breakfast". I went into the lobby where there are multiple signs staying "no food or drink". I asked the desk where I could sit. She said: "Well, you could go outside". It was raining and I walk with a cane. I had my wedding there 50 yrs ago. One of my 4 children had their honeymoon there. Ive stayed at The Pine Inn so often in the past, that they use to send me Xmas cards. I now undetstand why the hotel was nearly empty last week. The staff is rude & undertrained. The "Grand Lady" of Carmel is a lovely shell of a building. Im not sure who owns the hotel now, but I would never recommend anyone I know to stay there under its current management.

Beautiful lobby amazing location nice and helpful staff
The shower need to be renovated asap!!
It was very cold in a room, heater wasn’t working. In bathroom pluggings was not in working condition. Also, got mistakenly charged on my room, for service I wasn’t supposed to. But thankfully the charge was removed from my bill.
The room we were in was very noisy, room 18. Delivery trucks arrived early and a lot of street noise.
We did not like that they do not turn on their radiator heaters in the room until 6:00 pm. They do not tell you that when you check in. They are quite noisy as well.
We stayed there a few years ago and breakfast was included. There was no coffee in the rooms. I believe when we were there before there was a table with coffee in the lobby but I could be thinking of another hotel. When we went down to order coffee there was no one there to take your order. They need to think about having coffee for their guests.
They need to think about ordering different soap for their guests. The bar of soap did not lather and we bought a bar of soap.
The hotel is showing wear. We understand that it is an historic hotel but the carpet in the common areas looked worn.

I enjoy the atmosphere, the antique furniture setting in the lobby. The fireplace area is great to have a nice conversation, read a book. I feel at home.
Addequate for simple close to airport lodging. Clean, up to date, comfortable.
But while close to airport, actually walkable, we werent told there was no transport so we had to hire an Uber. We didnt feel safe, as seniors, walking on a dark road, schlepping large suitcases at 4am, to the airport.
Great location, however the rooms are very small and there was no cofee in the room which I feel is a necessity

We have stayed before and have better memories than our current stay. The last time we had a better room and breakfast was included. But times change. We stayed in an older building, the room was smaller and overlooking a roof. But it was ok as we enjoyed the city and the surrounding areas.
We have loved the Pine Inn for 50 years. Lovely old warm inn with so much history, quirky floors and lovely charm. It’s quite comfortable and excellently located.
Perfect location to enjoy Ocean Ave. shops, dining, and sites, and to jump on to 17 Mile Drive for a driving tour. Staff was terrific. Only recommendation: replace hall carpet up to the second and the third floors. This will be our first choice for our next visit!
