Perfect location to discover Umbria!
We were 2 couples during ten days in the middle of June. From the start, Natasha, the property manager was very helpful to guide us to the apartment and answer all of our questions. Mind you, one of us spoke Italian! Thank god for the pool right there on site, so refreshing! The accommodations are bright, airy and private. Basic kitchen with a mini fridge requiring to shop on a daily basis or go to the restaurant. By the way we recommend Coccorone and Re-Tartu! You will reach all the nice cities between 15 and 45 minutes of driving, and the valley is beautiful!

Stilvolle Ferienwohnung - ideale Lage
Fazit: Unbedingt empfehlenswert!

Great apartment and location
Had a wonderful stay and enjoyed all that Montefalco and the surrounding areas had to offer. Lots of wineries and sites to see and we were able to live like a local for a week in this beautiful region of Italy. The only recommendation I have would be to verify with the owner ahead of your stay if there will be access to the pool. We booked this placed based off the pool photos and courtyard being available and it was not when we checked in. The owner did make another pool available to us at a different property but it was not the experience we were hoping for. Other than that our stay was perfect and the property manager was very accommodating even with our language barrier.

Could be so much better
The apartment was well located in the village but like so many others, we had an awful time finding it. When I finally located our greeter, she was less than helpful and impatient. She speaks only Russian and Italian - no English whatsoever. The apartment was lacking, especially in the kitchen - single cup stovetop percolator, utensils in a plastic bin on the floor unsealed, freezer didn't work etc. There were absolutely no instructions in the apartment that were in English - Italian only, except for the last line encouraging us to give them a great review. There was no internet or television, even though we contacted the owner and he promised to have it fixed. There was an ironing board but no iron, hair dryer did not the proper adapter, the tile was falling off the shower, pot light were burnt out. The outdoor garden was overgrown and all the walkways were covered in moss, making it a very slippery walk. The pool was not open even though the weather was great. Francesco finally showed up late on our last of 5 days and was rather arrogant. He thought he could give us a tour of his "palace" to make amends.

Spacious, private, and beautiful lodging in heart of lovely medieval Montefalco
We loved our lodging in Montefalco, both because the Benozzo apartment and its terrace were lovely and because the town was a wonderful, charming, and quiet place to stay for visiting Umbria. The apartment is restored space true to the medieval roots of the building and town; it is very nicely furnished, clean, secure, private, and well-appointed. We discovered two really good restaurants - Foresteria Alzatura and Coccorone, each a short walk from the apartment. The first was particularly good, with outstanding, original dishes. I recommend that the traveler get clear directions in advance from the host about how and where to meet, with a good pdf map of Montefalco and the location of the gate and apartment. There are four gates (Portas) to this tiny town with some very narrow streets and sharp turns. GPS alone may not get you to the right spot. Once we figured it out, we had no problem using this spot as a jumping off point to visit other locations in Umbria. We would strongly recommend it.

A lovely restful place to stay
This was the perfect place to stay with 2 small children and enjoy Umbria and Montefalco. The apartment is beautiful and the pool and shaded courtyard were a delightful retreat from the intense afternoon sun. Benozzo is close to the main plaza where the girls could run around while we sat at an outside cafe to enjoy a late afternoon glass of wine. The apartment is comfortable and roomy. It would have been helpful if a few things such as laundry detergent and some olive oil were stocked in the unit. We had to buy both for just one use. I will stay at Benozzo again when I am in the area.

An Umbrian Hill Town Gem
L'Arco Romanico was exactly what we wanted for our holiday, a quiet place in the heart of a historic and beautiful town, with access to good restaurants and places of interest nearby. We stayed in the Benozzo apartment which was spacious, comfortable, and well equipped & maintained. We enjoyed the traditional architecture and the wonderful and charming views from each window. Although we were too early in the season to enjoy the pool, the spacious garden was a lovely place to soak up the spring sunshine. During the summer it would be a perfect spot for alfresco meals. Francesco, Edyta and Martin were all very helpful and responsive. Francesco's family have lived in Montefalco for generations and it was fascinating to learn a bit about the town's history from one whose family has lived it first hand! Montefalco is a wonderful place. It's hill top location allows sweeping 360 degree views across the valley to hills and mountains beyond. The traditional stone architecture, maze of cobbled lanes, and bells heard from various ancient churches create a timeless atmosphere. It's location has not been marred by the intrusion of large motorways, although it is close enough to the road system to give easy access. A one minute walk up the cobbled lane from L'Arco Romanico is the spacious and attractive Piazza which is home to excellent places to dine and buy local food & wine. There are also places to sit out and enjoy all the Medieval civic architecture while trying the variations of espresso coffee that the Italians do so well. Despite all this, it is uncrowded and unhurried. We walked up on Sunday morning to see the children from the nearby church playing a ball game in the middle of the Piazza. The town and area is well endowed with Franciscan heritage and Renaissance art. We enjoyed learning about the life and influence of St Francis on the region and far beyond. The Gozzoli Benozzo frescoes in the local museum provided a history of his life which complemented our trip to Assisi, about a half hour's drive away. Spoleto is another beautiful and fascinating place within easy reach of Montefalco. We even made a day trip to Rome from our base at L'Arco Romanico. For us, Montefalco had great balance, there was enough, but not too much! All the things you want easily accessible, but without noise, hurry, or crowding. A real gem!

Charming accommodation and wonderful location
We spent just over two weeks in the Benozzo apartment, one of three apartments in a secluded and quiet courtyard with a lovely garden and small pool. We couldn't have been more pleased with the accommodation, which turned out to be everything the description said and more. The apartment is very well maintained, and any questions or requests we had were promptly attended to by Edyta and her husband, who look after the property. The owner, Francesco, was extremely helpful prior to our arrival with excellent suggestions about things to do in the local area and restaurants to visit. We are already thinking about a return trip to Montefalco and would certainly consider staying in this apartment again.

Why go anywhere else!
We 'discovered' Montefalco about 10 years ago and fell in love with it instantly but couldn't find any suitable accommodation until 4 years ago after Francesco had completed the renovation of these three apartments. We have been back every year since and will be back next year. The apartment is perfect and were it not for the attractions of nearby towns and villages we could happily stay in Montefalco all week. The village really is relaxing and the shops, cafes and restaurants can supply all your needs. Our only worry is that as travellers discover this oasis of tranquillity and keep returning, one day we may find it full and then where shall we go!

A Perfect Apartment and a Perfect Host!
My husband and I spent four nights in this beautifully restored historic apartment in the heart of Montefalco. We selected Benozzo and could not have been more pleased. The location is absolutely perfect...just a three minute walk to the Plaza. We arrived with our friends, who stayed in the Perugino Apartment, in the midst of a huge rainstorm. We were met by friends of the owner, Francesco, and escorted to our apartments. The entry is very private and secure. It is directly off one of the small stone passageways right off the Plaza and has a locked gate entry. As you walk in, you go up a few stairs and there is the beautiful courtyard and terrace, complete with swimming pool. Of course, it was covered up this time of year! The pictures on the website do not do it justice. It is very large and beautifully landscaped. The entire courtyard and terrace are exclusively reserved for the three apartments which Francesco owns. We were very excited about the large living area and HUGE fireplace. I asked Francesco before our arrival to please have lots of firewood for us, so our first night was spent in front of a blazing fire, listening to the rain outside and sipping on some Sangratino di Montefalco vino. Francesco came over to meet us that evening. This effort on his part, especially considering the weather, was so very typical of the very professional communication he displayed from our very first interaction via e-mail. Francesco lives and works in Rome but comes to stay in his family's Palazzo in Montefalco during the weekends. We were so very fortunate to be invited to tour the Palazzo and see firsthand the restoration results. The kitchen in the apartment was very well equipped, with LOTS of pots, pans, and dishes. The bathrooms were brand new and simply beautiful. We have been to Italy nine times and always stay in apartments. Even though these apartments date to the 11th century, they have been lovingly restored and are a joy to stay in. You will not be disappointed by selecting Benozzo for your trip to Montelalco

Delightful apartment in Umbria
We stayed in a delightful apartment in the heart of the beautiful medieval town of Montefalco. Conviniently located close to wonderful shops, excellent restaurants and the town centre, but without the noise of traffic. From here many famous towns are within a short distance, Assisi, Perugia, Spoleto. The apartment was everything we could have hoped for: comfortable, warm, tastefully decorated with period features and furniture, but with all the modern accessories required. When we arrived, we received a freindly and worm welcome and immediately felt at home. We found the apartment clean with everything needed to begin our stay. The customer service was excellent. I would highly recommend this property if you wish to emmerse yourself in the Umbrian way of life and spend a lovely holiday visiting the area.

Gorgeous apartment in a beautiful town
Myself and 4 members of my family stayed in 2 apartments owned by Francesco. The apartments were as lovely as the pictures, everything was clean and well maintained. You are right in the centre of Monetfalco and seconds walk away from the main piazza which is lovely. Many amazing places to eat and loads of great places to visit nearby!! Francesco was happy to recommend places to visit, restaurants and things to do within the local area (i.e. vineyards to visit). The apartments were very homely and had all the facilities you would need if you were eating in. There were tables and chairs outside which we used loads. The beds were really comfortable. We were initially disappointed to see the pool covered over but as soon as we asked Francesco he was on the case and someone was round the next morning to start cleaning it and getting it ready for us. It might be worth making sure the pool is in action if you are staying there in cooler months and like to swim. It was nice and warm for us English in June but the locals were still wrapped up in coats and jumpers!! The local residents were all really friendly and welcoming and we had such a great time in a wonderful apartment in such a beautiful town. I would highly recommend this apartment and town if you are looking for quality accomodation, wonderful food, great wine in beautiful surroundings. Thank you Francesco and family

A wonderful stay in a beautiful town
Our second visit to Montefalco, was not disappointing. Our apartment Benozzo was very comfortable, clean and well equipped and gave us plenty of room to move. We were able to park nearby, and being a walled city you are able to chose which way you will go today. Our dealing with the owners were very clear and pleasant, and whilst we had a little communication problem when we arrived, we were able to sort it out, with much apology! We are a couple with two teenage children, so two bathrooms and a washing machine were very welcome. We were lucky enough to have a little look through the palazzo, under renovation down the street, and have a peek into the grand lives of days gone by. It is worth noting that we also ate an exceptional meal at the Coccorone(sp) restaurant nearby, and we were well and truly looked after by the handsome waiter who cooked our enormous bistecca over the coals. Lucky it was only a short walk home to our cosy warm, private apartment. We would love to come again, have a glass of red at the Alchemista in the piazza, get some more exceptional food at the lovely delis and maybe a little to take home to enjoy in the serenity of the apartment. It was a gamble travelling in January, but we could see the snow capped mountains in the distance, and feel the ice on the air, but were very lucky to have great cold weather, and then be in Rome in a couple of short hours to finish our holiday/ Would we come again? In the blink of an eye. Thank you Francesco for providing a delightful place for us to stay.

Great holiday in Montefalco
We (French family of 5 people) spent a great week in Montefalco mid August. The village is typical and adorable in the middle of Umbria. Well located, not far from Assisi, Perugia and so many little charming villages, in the middle of the vineyards. The food is good, the wine fantastic. Benozzo appartment was great. Just in the middle of the village, only 3 apartments are surrounding a small but beautiful swimming pool and delicate garden. Charming decoration. Full equipment. Francesco, the owner, who speaks very good english was really very kind and helpful. We really enjoyed this week in Montefalco and will try to be back one day. Definitely a great place to stay in couple, family or friends if you are looking for a peaceful and charming place.

Wonderful week in Montefalco
I have just spent a wonderful two weeks "girls only" getaway in Italy. One week was spent in Montefalco staying in the Benozzo apartment. The Benozzo apartment is large, very comfortable, well maintained and clean. The kitchen was fully equipped and we had the choice of inside or outside dining. The online description of the apartment does not do full justice to the lovely stone exterior and interior of the building and the garden and "plunge pool" were bigger and prettier than expected and wonderfully welcome as temperatures were unseasonably high. The pool was cleaned every day and the owner Francesco, who lives in Rome, dropped in to see how we were doing. We loved Montefalco itself, so many little alleyways and churches to explore and it was easy to explore the rest of Umbria from Montfalco by hired car. The restaurant L'Alchimista in the piazza is a great place to people watch as well as having lovely food. Parking, although not right outside the apartment, was at most 100m away. I will return one day with my husband (if he's lucky!) and highly recommend this apartment. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay.

Great apartment, location, owner
My wife and I, along with another couple, enjoyed a one-week stay at Benozzo in May 2011. This apartment was perfect-- two bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite and one just across the hall), a large well-equipped kitchen, and comfortable living and dining areas. Everything was very clean upon our arrival. A real plus is the courtyard where we spent time enjoying the good weather, good food, and of course good local wines. The apartment is conveniently located in beautiful Montefalco, within three minutes walk of a small grocery store, enoteca, several excellent restaurants (Coccorone and Alchimista), morning coffee bar, and gelateria. The town is so small that you are quickly recognized by merchants. Parking is available in a lot just behind the apartment. Montefalco is conveniently located for easy day trips to Perugia, Deruta, Assisi, Spello, Trevi, Spoleto, and Todi. The owner Francesco was very responsive to our various enquiries prior to our arrival. He called us on the day of our arrival to confirm our arrival time and to make sure everything would be ready for us. While he lives in Romoe, he happened to be in Montefalco the day after our arrival and he stopped by to meet us and to make sure we were happily settled. Francesco was also a god-send in helping deal with a car problem. He really cares for his clients! I highly recommend a stay at the Benozzo apartment in beautiful Montefalco.

We said we would return...
We stayed in the apartment last year and vowed to return, this time bringing my brother and his wife along as well. None of us was disappointed either by the apartment or Montefalco. After 3 weeks away in various locations it remains our favourite destination and a tour of the family's Palazzo nearby that Francesco is restoring was the perfect ending to our week. We also returned to Il Tempio del Gusto in Spoleto for a meal and the food is as excellent as ever. Obviously with such enthusiasm we shall return!!!

What a Wonderful Week
We have visited Montefalco a number of times and tried to find somewhere to stay without success. When we spotted Benozzo we were delighted but the experience was even better. The apartment was brilliant (who needs a dishwasher - it's just a better reason to eat out!) and we hadn't realised there was a pool so that was another bonus. It is easy to spend a week here but you really do need a car if you want to travel around but you don't have to travel far to find wonderful places. You can't park outside but you can get fairly close to drop off and then park not far away. The courtyard is delightful and with buying from the local shops which are a short distance away plus the restaurants and wine sellers, you could easily spend the week here without leaving the village. Can't remember all of the places we ate at but Alchemista on the square takes a lot of beating whether for a drink, snack or meal. Having said that if you want to travel Perugia is a must with its Etruscan 'undercroft' (park at the bus station to experience the world beneath) but there are so many amazing towns and villages to visit its difficult to know where to start. Close by Assissi, Spello and most particularly Spoletto, where you simply must eat at Il Tempio del Gusto - we have never eaten anywhere better in Europe (and we have now been there three times), but there are so many more. We don't want to recommend Benozzo to a friend in case they try to book it when we want to because we shall be back next year but that would be greedy as this is a place that should be shared. Ciao Francesco and thanks for the opportunity of realising one of our dreams.

cosy apartment in perfect location
location: situated right in the middle of montefalco the apartment offers everything one needs. the parking lot is right behind the property, shops, bars and restaurants are within walking distance. by car many other interesting places like assisi, spoleto, spello, perugia are accessibile within 30-40km. apartment: the complex is as nice as the pictures demonstrate. with the 2 separate bed- and bathrooms it is suitable for 2 travelling couples as well as for a family with 2 kids. the furniture is tasteful and the fireplace makes the living room very cosy. nights are absolutely quiet, there is no road, train or any other source for noise nearby. there is a washing machine but no dishwasher. as the temperature was not high enough in march we did not use the pool nor the rest of the outside area. contact: the owner is very friendly and helpful and mails (in english or italian) are answered within a couple of hours. conclusion: perfect apartment in perfect location, absolutely worth the price. thanks

So much more than the pictures show
The apartment and also the whole property was amazing. Beautiful, comfortable and luxurious, as well as sparkling clean. We had travelled throughout Italy for a month and this was the largest shower yet. The kitchen was well equiped, allowing us to prepare the fresh pasta, vegies and cheeses bought at the local shops and market. The courtyard was a pleasant surprise, as was the pool. We found the location to be fantastic, as it is central to the other small villages and Umbrian towns. Montefalco itself provides a quiet but rich ambience to experience the flavours of the area. The owners greeted us, guided through the use of the apartment, and provided us with great tips for wine, restaurants and sightseeing. We thoroughly enjoyed our days in Montefalco and in this beautiful apartment.
