"We needed a quiet beautiful spot to rest and this place was amazing, we had our privacy and peace and quiet with the beautiful bay and mountains around us. The only suggestion we have is to have cooking utensils like a spatula and tongs and dish towels We did run out of propane and they came rather promptly to replace with full tank"

"This was an ABSOLUTELY terrific place to stay! It’s spacious, super clean, and newly modeled. We enjoyed three nights here with another couple before starting a week-long sailing trip . Beautiful views! Roomy porch for watching the sunset over your own private wharf and dock. Across the street is a well-stocked grocery store for easy shopping. "We arrived late afternoon and were unable to open the lock box to access the key. Our USA phone would not connect a local call so we had to find someone with a phone willing to call the local cohost to get us in. We found out that we had been given the wrong code. We loved the folding glass doors opening our room up to a beautiful view. The other two wood doors to access the bathroom and the front door were such a tight fit we had trouble opening and closing them. The outdoor kitchen is a good idea but it was constantly flooded with water during this time of year. It was also poorly equipped with dishes and towels and cleaning products. We did enjoy the use of the kayaks! It would have been nice to have a couple of plastic lounge chairs to sit in on the deck."

"We spent two nights at Hilda and Olivier’s lovely B&B+ as a transition between Maupiti and Taha’a. The bungalow is built and decorated with focus on quality, beauty, and locale. At every turn I saw patience, craftsmanship, and concern for the environment. The bungalows are made to last! The interior is modern in design and amenities. The bedding is of high quality and very comfortable. Ceiling fan plus A/C plus mosquito screens in all windows plus shutters make adjusting to temperature changes easy. I especially noted the lovely cool-ish breeze off the mountains coming through during the night. Are there mosquitos and ants? Of course there are, it’s the tropics. And we weren’t bothered at all. Hilda is a star-quality chef, and the three-course dinners that Olivier delivers to the bungalow are a celebration for the eye and palate. The breakfast, also delivered to the bungalow, is plentiful and includes homemade jams and homegrown fruit. Good coffee, too. I did swim in the salt water pool, and it is long enough for five strokes. While not enough for a workout, it’s lovely for cooling off. Hilda and Olivier go out of their way to be helpful, professional, and friendly. Responses to my emails were prompt. We would stay at Vare Vavae again and recommend it."
