"This home was well maintained and very clean and organized, especially since it is an older farmhouse. Being near the James River made for enjoyable walks. "

"The house and property were beautiful. My husband got to fish a few times in the river. We walked on the property a lot. Communication was great with Glen. He was very quick to respond to problems. There were some hornets outside the house and coming into the house, but it was taken care of right away. Also, due to the cold They weren't a problem The second and third day while we stayed. "We always love staying at the Homeplace it is like being at home but while on vacation. It's comfortable it has all of the amenities that are needed and it is centrally located to all the activities that we find fun, hiking, Swimming at Smith Mountain lake, going to winery's meaderys etc. and the beauty that surrounds the house and the orchard just can't be beat. Thank you to the Gross family for always making our stay warm and welcoming."

"Our stay in this historic countryside farmhouse was wonderful! This old house is so charming and quirky. The house has plenty of seating, eating space, bedrooms and we loved the coffee bar setup. The land is beautiful and so peaceful. We enjoyed walking the farm, watching the cows and listening to the stream. There is so much to do outside with the firepit area, basketball/tennis court, ladder ball, cornhole, etc. We really enjoyed our three days there. Ian was a terrific host...responding...
