"Monemvasia is really an interesting, beautiful location. Be aware that this is not convenient - there's a long walk into any hotel there and lots of stairs. Liked: • Beautiful location • Nice helpful staff • Wonderful view from balcony which was nice and large • Great shower (wasn’t one of those stupid hand held) • Mattress fine • Roomy room • Updated • Great breakfast Would have been nice to have hot water/coffee in the room"

"My husband was here four years ago on a solo trip and was determined to make sure I returned to experience Monemvasia and this hotel in particular. It is the perfect location -close to the main entrance so you don’t have to carry luggage too far. Our hostess was so kind, with advice on where to eat and things to do. Such a delightful village. The bed was very comfortable – there is a small refrigerator. There’s a courtyard to sit in as well as a little back patio, depending on which room you get. The shower is small, so ladies washing your hair can be a little tricky, but I made it work. Get up with the sunrise] and hike up to the ruins early before the crowds/heat and catch the pretty light."

"Amazing location, unique rooms with historic charm. We stayed in an apartment style room located in the lower areas of Monemvasia, below the Stellaki Mansion. The best way to describe the room is - fancy wine cellar. We had access to an upper level courtyard which was very pretty with potted plants and seating, however no sea views from our room or courtyard. Though we grew to love the room I was originally disappointed to not have a sea view. This was probably an error made on my end. Based on photos of the rooms when booking I wrongly assumed that all the rooms had sea views/terraces. So if having a sea view is important to you make sure to read the room descriptions closely when booking. Even though we didn’t have the view in our room it really wasn’t a big deal and we were out exploring most of the time anyways! The staff was very friendly and the included breakfast was excellent and served in a beautiful building with outdoor terraces with garden and sea views. Overall we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend staying in any of the rooms available! Note: all of Monemvasia is walking only with very uneven stone streets and lots of stairs, consider that when packing bags. I would recommend backpack style carry-on size/overnight bags vs rolling suitcases; and definitely no heavy large bags. "

"Situated almost immediately by the bridge to the island, AKTAION Hotel was quite comfortable, and well positioned for restaurants. My room was one of the smaller ones, but it’s balcony faced the island and the sea. I would most happily stay there again if the opportunity occurs. "
