The accommodation consists of a small holiday chalet to which we added a wooden extension with a terrace roof in 2010 and a terrace overlooking the garden.
Located facing the Chartreuse massif, in the regional natural park of the same name, it sits at 650 meters altitude in a village of 1500 inhabitants with local services and shops (grocery store, bakery, hairdresser, garage, etc.). The view is unobstructed over the Chartreuse, and the chalet features numerous large windows overlooking the garden and terrace.
We lived in this house with young children, so we have kept many board games and equipment for babies (changing mat, hiking backpack, bathtub, travel crib and mattress in addition to the beds already described, booster seat for dining, potty). For older children, a trampoline and football goals allow enjoyment of the outdoors, and a foosball table is set up on the top floor of the chalet; a slide and swings are also installed in the garden.
The heating is electric, but two stoves provide good warmth to both parts of the house in winter.
The entire property is accessible to guests except for one room on the top floor where we keep our personal belongings.
The extension includes living spaces:
- Large glazed hall leading to the terrace
- Large living/dining room communicating with the kitchen
- A bedroom with an integrated bathroom completes this ground floor area (Bedroom 1)
- A separate WC
The older chalet includes:
- On level -0.5 directly leading to the garden: a bedroom with a double bed (140 cm) and an adjoining dressing room (Bedroom 4)
- On level 0: a bathroom with a bathtub, washing machine, and dryer
- On level 0.5: a playroom also used as a TV room with a futon sofa bed (140 cm) and desk, leading to the balcony
- On level 1: 1 WC, 2 small bedrooms, one with a raised single bed and a floor mattress (Bedroom 2), the other with a double bed (Bedroom 3)
- On level 1.5: an attic with a foosball table
The garden is not enclosed and includes a football goal, a swing set with a slide, and a trampoline.
Three cars can be parked in tandem in the driveway in front of the house.
The Saint Pierre de Chartreuse ski resort is a 25-minute drive away. Alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing are available in Chartreuse (Saint Pierre de Chartreuse, Le Planolet for alpine skiing, Col de Porte, Saint Hugues, and Désert d'Entremont for Nordic skiing).
The property is located in a quiet area at the end of a dead-end path. It is 700 meters from the village center (10 minutes on foot), where you will find the multiservice grocery store (tobacco, postal relay, newspapers, local products, bread depot), the bakery-tea room (currently closed until further notice), the hairdresser, and the municipal library.
A market is held in the church square every Friday, featuring a very good cheesemaker, local meat, and seasonal fruits and vegetables.
The village has many hiking and mountain biking trails, including one that passes in front of the chalet and leads into the nearby forest. A campsite with a bar/tea room and an outdoor swimming pool is located 600 meters from the chalet, on the edge of the forest. Tennis courts are 500 meters from the chalet.
Local activities and visits include: the Grande Chartreuse Monastery, the Cirque de St Même, the Entremonts Dairy Cooperative (cheese factory), Lake Aiguebelette, Rivièr'Alpes Leisure Base, ascent of the Charmant Som, Tourbières de l'Herretang, Chartreuse Caves, etc.
The village is primarily accessible by car (in winter, it is advisable to use snow tires or have chains to navigate the last meters of the path). It is a 10-minute drive from the two main towns (each with outdoor swimming pools) and 25 minutes from the Saint Pierre de Chartreuse ski resort. A bus connects the Voiron train station with the village church (800 meters / 12 minutes on foot from the property) twice a day.
