19th Century Home in Halloween Capital of the World

This house is prestigious for being built in the early 19th century and for being over 120 years old. As you walk through you will notice the 10' ceilings that draw in an abundance of natural light through the oversized windows. You will also find well-cared-for natural hardwood floors and lots of built-ins. This home has so many intricate little details that gives it all its character.

If you love vintage and historical, this house built in 1900 has all the charm you would want in your stay!

In the basement, you will find a full-size washer and dryer for use during your stay. If you like to barbecue we have a grill out on the deck and patio furniture for you to hang out on.

Please notify us if anything does not work, or is broken.
We are open to any recommendations to improve a stay.
No overnight on-street parking in Anoka. There is driveway parking available.
***We are redoing the decor so it will look a bit different from the pictures.

It’s a cool old house, in a superbly convenient location. Just a pleasant walk from downtown Anoka where you will find many restaurants, bars, breweries, theaters, occasional shops, and antique stores. Walk out the front door and across the street (it's a busy road so be careful) and you will find Mad Hatter Restaurant and Tea House. It's also only 30 minutes to Downtown Minneapolis or St Paul, 45 minutes to MSP Airport and Mall of America, and 15 minutes from the National Sports Center. Do you love to golf? There are more than 5 courses within 15 minutes from this house. Including Green Haven which is only 2 miles and the TPC Twin Cities course where you can watch the pros play at the PGA tournament every summer.

Anoka was built-up in the mid-1800s around logging operations, where the Rum River and the mighty Mississippi River come together. Later the town profited from potato production, shoe manufacturing, and a state-run hospital.

By 1937, Anoka became nationally recognized as a Halloween destination when 12-year-old Harold Blair won a trip to Washington D.C., and brought with him a sweater sewn with an Anoka the Halloween patch on it and a proclamation that named Anoka as the Halloween Capital of the World. It was also one of the first cities in the United States to put on a Halloween celebration that discourages people from playing tricks or causing trouble. If you love Halloween and all the creepiness that goes along with it. You will want to go on one of the many Guided Cemetery Tours or Ghost Tours throughout the historical town.

Anoka is a beautiful small town with lots of places to explore and offer including walks along the riverfront, stopping by the dam to enjoy some fishing, and going to a concert at one of our beautiful parks just over the river. Since Anoka is a short 30-minute drive from US Bank Stadium, Target Field and the Excel Energy Center where you can go see the Twins, Wild, Vikings play, or go see one of your favorite singers at one of the many concerts they host.

Hope you will enjoy your stay and some of the attractions we have listed.

Lovely home with classic character
We found this home to be spacious and clean. It is comfortably furnished (including the beds), and the kitchen is well stocked. Beware that the single shower is small. The homeowners requested that no shoes be worn in the house, which I found to be uncomfortable. It's an all-around good find.

Decent price for an old house
The house is old as describe in the listing. The kitchen is probably the only area that is pretty modern. One thing I will like to note is that the shower bathroom does not have a lock. Someone else could open the door without realizing someone is using it. Would have been nice to have this in the description. Overall it was decent for the price you’re paying for.
