No Internet - Unresponsive Host
Upon arrival (too late to cancel) there was a large sign saying "We have no WiFi, pretend it's 1990 and talk to each other." In this "work from home" era, not only is the sign assuming/rude, it indicates the host knows WiFi is a standard amenity for travelers & that they've answered questions about WiFi for previous guests. If it’s important enough to display for guests to see upon arrival, it is disingenuous not to put it in the description or pictures.
It was my first time using VRBO. I was unaware hosts can only list included amenities. Other platforms I've used listed unavailable basics as being crossed out. It didn't occur to me they wouldn't have WiFi.
When I expressed the issue of needing WiFi to work, I explained I was new to VRBO and, had I been aware, I would not have booked with them. They were slow to respond. We checked out 2 hours later. I alerted them we had left & booked a new rental. They were unwilling to work with us financially (NO response) when we offered to give up the place for a partial refund so they could rent it again. They ignored messages I sent advising them we had left, & rented another house so I could work. 2 days after leaving, they messaged to say they now had internet so we could come back. It took the rest of my vaca to settle things w/our unresponsive/uncompromising host & 2x our rental budget because of their omission.
What an awful way to start/end my 1st visit to NS since moving away 18 yrs ago.
