My friends and I had a great time at the guest house. It was beautiful, comfortable and private. The host was great at communicating and was attentive to all our needs. We absolutly loved being greated by the black poodle daily whom we dubbed sargent pepper 😍
Overall, it was a good stay for a night after a bachelorette party. However, we were surprised that the living room was completely exposed to the outside. So, when we got up for breakfast in the morning, it was really cold and we decided that we would have to go out to eat instead of staying in. We had planned to stay in and eat there, because the listing had said there was 4 rooms and it was unclear that the outdoor space was counted as a room.
The owners dogs run freely on the property, so they were also in our space while we were trying to eat and relax before a wedding. They also kept running in front of our cars as we pulled in and we were afraid that we would hurt them.
Finally, we came back around 9:30pm and found the owners son (I'm assuming) using the weight room while we were renting the property. At the end of the night, we all kind of felt like we didn't get the privacy we had hoped for with this rental. It was still cute and fun for a bachelorette, but we could have planned better if we understood what to expect and would have appreciated more privacy especially with the main space being open to the outdoors.
My husband and I stayed here during our recent trip to Canton's First Monday Trade Days weekend. This location is approx 30 minutes from Canton. We stayed for 3 nights. The guest house had a comfortable bed and a nice-sized bathroom with a walk-in shower. The room is much like a hotel room with the exception of 3 "hidden" bunk beds which we did not use. There is a very tiny, shallow closet for hanging clothes; my husband used the bunk stairs for his bags. There was an outdoor covered room with a kitchen area including a full-size refrigerator, green egg grill, and microwave. There's a pretty pool and hot tub but we did not use either as they were very visible to the homeowner's house; not private for guests. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. There wasn't a paved parking spot or sidewalk from the parking spot (in front of the owner's house) to the guest house. Thankfully, we have rubber mats in our car because our shoes got dirty from waking through the dirt and grass to get to the guest house. I'm sure the owners will work on getting pavers or a sidewalk so guests can roll their luggage and keep their shoes/car mats clean. We were also greeted by two resident dogs which were very friendly and obedient. Overall, this was a great place to rest after spending hours on our feet. Mineola is also a fun little town with several antique shops and restaurants.
Everything went perfect for my wife and I’s anniversary getaway from the kids. It was very peaceful and quiet and Steve was great with check in and getting the hot tub going!
We had a great time staying here this weekend. First Monday shut down early due to inclimate weather so we were a little early. The place was ready to go and it was not an issue. Steve was gracious enough to cook our steaks for us since I had a hard time getting the green egg's fire going. Yet, we had complete privacy. Since we were on high alert with the weather we were unable to get in the hot tub the first night but we definitely enjoyed it the second night. We just texted Steve 45 min before we were ready to get in. First Monday was a 38 min drive from the house. We didn't mind a bit. The drive was nice and there is absolutely nobody around you. Steve had a coffee pot and pods in the room with creamer and sugar. There is also a microwave, hairdryer, and hair straightener if needed. Thanks Steve and family for great accommodations.
I hosted a Bachelorette pajama party and the space was so nice! the dogs that greet you are adorable and so friendly. unfortunately I wasn't able to talk to the host when we had an small issue with a tripped circuit, but things worked out. overall we had a great time and things were simple and easy! Thank you for everything
Wonderful, clean, very comfortable bed, they had all the necessities and a little extra! The dogs were lovely and nice but stayed away from the rental space as I assume they were trained to do so as not to bombard guests! All in all, lovely!
I am delayed in this review, but me and 5 of my friends rented this out to celebrate a 40th milestone in May. Steve was SO accommodating and went above and beyond to make the stay enjoyable and fun! The pool and outside area was so beautiful and well kept. Even though it was a guest house, we still felt like we had our own privacy and had enough space to feel comfortable! I definitely want to go back again and have recommended to other people.
Our stay at this guesthouse was wonderful. The property is really beautiful and we enjoyed our family visit to ETX. Great pool that was refreshing and relaxing.
I enjoyed a 3-night stay, and the property was perfect for my catch-up-on-homework getaway. They gladly accommodated my request for a table and office chair and I was able to work on my computer all hours looking over the beautiful pool and backyard. A couple notes, especially in response to other reviews I saw. The living area is basically outdoors, and since this is in the country a bit, some dust, leaves, and critters are inevitable. The bed and bath are indoors, and were very clean and comfortable. One review mentioned that the shower wasn't hot, but they just hadn't experimented enough because the labels are a bit backwards (water just on is hot, continue turning and it gets cooler). Internet was sufficient, although the living area TV had some trouble at times, but I wasn't there for that and it was fine for my computer. They could probably use a range extender to beef that up. The Polk Audio soundbar/subwoofer combination in the living area was outstanding! I had my dance music going the whole time and the owners claim they never heard a thing. Getting the hot tub heated and jets going required texting the owners, but they were very responsive esp. when we figured out that texting worked better than going through the Vrbo site. The town is small, around 4,500, but the restaurants were better than I would have expected. Special shout-out to Logan's Place for some quality Italian food at bargain prices. Kitchen is limited to a hotplate and microwave which was all I needed, and I'm thankful for the space heater I found under the sink so I could keep working into the cool evening. Overall a 5-star wonderful experience!
We loved our time at Steve’s place in Mineola. The open air living room/kitchen area was so nice in the warm October evenings. We also got to enjoy the pool and hot tub. Owner was great with communication. Owners do live in house on site but leave their blinds closed and we never once felt uncomfortable - they offer so much privacy and you’ll only hear from them or see them if you need something. Do note that the bedroom has a Queen bed and the built in triple bunks are essentially in the same room (with closing barn door). We came with our best friends though so did not mind the minimal privacy. It made for a fun sleep over of sorts, haha. Definitely recommend this beautiful and peaceful place. Hope to stay again next time we are in East Texas. Thanks, Steve!
Although this was a backyard guest house, the owners excelled in making the space feel private. It was great for our one-night stay and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool!
Very nice property just as pictured. Great getaway to the countryside. There was a glitch with the digital lock to the property but the owner resolved the issue ASAP.
