"lili kyoto is not a typical hotel. It is small — three units on the ground floor, probably about the same on the floor above (I didn’t take the elevator up to check). It is totally unstaffed; to get in the front door you must obtain a code from the owner/manager. I got mine by having a nice lady in the Kyoto railway station tourist office call the owner/manager, who promptly emailed instructions. The front “lobby” and hallway are unheated. There is no breakfast buffet, no vending machines, none...

You can also visit the supermarket in a few hundred meters where you could find many fresh food at budget prices. The common kitchen is basic which only support very lightly cooking but still convenient. The free washing machines and dryers are very handy. We will recommend to stay in this hotel."
