"The experience was what we expected. Very Japanese, quiet with beautiful gardens. They changed our booking from a room for 6 to three rooms for 2 each and had a nice garden view. The dinner was surprisingly very good with all vegetable dishes but quite diverse texture and taste. We enjoyed our stay. "

"The area around the property is so beautiful! I loved waking up in the morning & seeing the forest outside. My room was very clean and the front desk service very friendly. I really enjoyed the dinner & breakfast service (everything tasted amazing!~) and the morning meditation ceremony was memorable. Everyone at the temple are so kind and helpful."

"Had a good one night stay here. I was worried it wouldn’t be enough time to see everything i wanted too, but it turned out to be perfect. You can drop off your luggage before and after you check in which is really nice. Highlights for me were the public bath, and morning ceremony."

"Stayed one night at this Shukubo. The place was beautiful - temple, garden, room, surrounding area. My husband is a Vegan, so he was very happy with the meal. However, I found it to be a little dissapointing. Shukubo evolved during the past 20 years, and now catered to foreign visitors. The meal was all vegan, but not the old fashioned Shoshin food, they were too modern and too catered to foregners. The morning service was also modified to suit foreigners. The place has lost its...

"The ryokan is very convenient, it is close to Nara park and railway station. Staff is friendly and helpful, the hot tub is a huge plus although you may need to learn the manner of using it beforehand and it's a bit small, the capacity is 2 persons. However there is no passenger lift available, if you hate stairs you may need to reconsider."
