Window to the Redwoods

Welcome to our redwood forest retreat in Mill Valley!

Our inviting home features floor-to-ceiling windows and 5 large skylights with stunning views of the Redwoods, including several right outside the front door. The gas fireplace, Samsung Frame TV, and peaceful setting make it the perfect escape.

Located just steps from the historic Dipsea Trail, it's only a 10-minute walk to the charming downtown Mill Valley and central to destinations like Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, SF and Napa/Sonoma.

“Window to the Redwoods” is our cozy oasis in a truly magical part of the world. This property is ideal for couples, groups of friends, or families that enjoy being surrounded by nature and central to all the sights:

-30-second walk to the Dipsea Trail (oldest trail race in the US dating back to 1905!)
-5-minute walk down the Dipsea Steps to Old Mill Park
-10-minute walk to downtown Mill Valley

-10-minute drive to Muir Woods National Monument
-15-minute drive to downtown Sausalito
-20-minute drive to Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco
-25-minute drive to Stinson Beach along the coast
-60-minute drive to Sonoma / Napa Wine Country

The house is nestled right into the Redwoods, with an impressive tree coming directly through the deck. From the nearby Dipsea Trail, Pixie Trail, and Cypress Trail to Mount Tam, Miwok, and Muir Beach, the ease of hitting the world-class trails and open spaces is truly unbeatable. To top it off, the Dipsea Steps are a stone's throw away and allow you to easily walk into town to experience all Mill Valley has to offer.

When you arrive at the house, ground stairs will lead you to the upper deck and glass front door. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are all upstairs in an open concept making it an ideal gathering spot with forest views out of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Every room upstairs features skylights looking up into the Redwoods, making it a truly immersive experience.

The plush couch in the living room is the perfect spot to enjoy a hot cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine at night with the fireplace roaring while you soak in the serene scene. You can see the beams of sunshine careening off the many trees while listening to music of your choosing through the in-wall Sonos speakers.

Living Room:
-Gas fireplace controlled with remote
-Frame TV above that displays art when turned off
-Roku Guest Mode so you can login and stream all your favorites services (Netflix, Prime, Hulu, HBO, YouTube TV, etc.)
-Fast WiFI (AT&T Fiber)

Dining Room:
-Table for 6 people
-Coffee Bar with Keurig, Drip Coffee, French Press, Chemex, Electric Tea Kettle

Kitchen:
-Floating Shelves
-Brand new quartzite countertops
-Electric Range, oven, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, blender
-Cookware and cooking utensils

Bedrooms:
-King Bed upstairs with skylight and window with view of Redwoods
-Queen Bed upstairs with skylight and window with view of Redwoods
-Queen Bed downstairs with workspace and large window with view of Redwoods

There are two bedrooms (King, Queen) upstairs and one full bathroom (with skylight) with shower/tub combo.

Head down the stairs to arrive at the third bedroom, which has a separate full bathroom with shower and dedicated workspace with a view of the trees. Note that this bedroom does not have an internal door separating it from the upstairs, but it does have a separate exterior entrance leading directly to the lower deck.

The downstairs also features a laundry room with a Miele washer/dryer and is stocked with cleaning essentials.

Disclaimers:

-To get to the house you will need to take a winding and fairly narrow road up a hill (about a 5-minute drive from the flats of downtown).

-Parking comes at a premium on the hill. Fortunately, we have two private parking spaces to offer guests. Shorter cars/SUVs (< 6’ high) should be able to fit in the carport under the deck relatively easily. Taller SUVs and trucks may need to park in the upper spot, which can be a bit tricky. We'll send instructions with guidance upon booking to make it as seamless as possible.

-Please note guests will need to walk up a flight of stairs to access the front door and main living area.

-As noted above, there is no door separating the downstairs bedroom from the upstairs.

Window to the Redwoods is our sanctuary, and we are so excited to share it with you! We hope it gives you the same reprieve from the day-to-day hustle that we find each visit.
