Niman House is a fishermans paradise, river front on the beautiful Juniata River

Breathtaking views of the Juniata River from inside the home or from the two exterior decks. Amazing bird watching opportunities with lots of waterfowl and resident eagles. Our getaway is located along a popular walking/biking road that dead ends at a historic Canal House but continues with a walking path along the Juniata River. This cozy retreat is situated 2 miles from the Arch Rock Road exit off Route 322. Within 1 mile to either the Midway Drive In Theater and flea market or the PA Fish Commission’s MIfflintown boat launch. Located 4 miles to MIfflintown which hosts many dining opportunities, pubs, retail stores and groceries. It’s a mere 7 miles to Lost Creek Golf Course and 8 miles to Port Royal Speedway. For the die hard Nittany Lions fans it’s 42 mile drive to Penn States Beaver Stadium. We have kayaks, rafts, floats and fishing equipment rentals available. (PM for details)

River View Paradis
Such a great place for relaxation. Privacy and plenty of wildlife. Modern features and comfortable beds. Sitting on the deck, watching the river and taking in the view was the best !

Fishing trip
Property was as described. Had an the amenities needed and everything was clean. Plenty of room for parking and the owners were more than friendly and accommodating to some requests, as well as providing some local insight into fishing holes and the better floats to do. Would definitely stay here again!

Our stay was an absolute dream. The house and property is beautiful and so relaxing. Definitely will return but will make our next stay much longer. Highly recommend this property. Feeding the geese/ducks, watching the river and all the other wildlife was fabulous. Make the Niman House your next adventure. The accommodations were outstanding, fully furnished residence. Hot tub, fire pit, full service kitchen, laundry room... Everything for "a home away from home." We came to enjoy a long, relaxing weekend. We had a scenic view of the river from the back decks and the hot tub. They even provide food to feed the ducks that live on the pond. The owners were very gracious and attentive. We had a minor issue with the Internet and they were happy to take time to visit and resolve the problem. We are looking forward to returning next fall.

Lifesaver!!!
Due to an unexpected delay in closing my family needed a place to stay for a week and this house was perfect. The owner was incredibly understanding and kind. The house was beautiful and waking up each morning to the gorgeous view of the river was amazing. My son and dogs loved the large yard too. I highly recommend this place!

Wonderful location on the river
We loved the backwoods location and relaxing along the river. The house was very welcoming, however it does have some concerns for some very young kids who don't know any better. The main concern is the door in the 3rd bedroom. My toddler knows how to open doors, so we were anxious. We fixed this by moving the bench outside in front of the door.

A slice of paradise
What a wonderful stay. Property is gorgeous on the Juniata River. The kitchen is well stocked with anything you need. Everything was clean and in working order. Hosts are local and give immediate response. I feel like I made friends! So many geese, and other wildlife right outside the window. I even saw eagles fishing the river for their breakfasts!! The deck overlooking the river is peaceful and serene. Delma and Zane were extremely gracious hosts, and I hope to return to visit their little piece of Heaven! Thank you for everything!

Peace and Heaven
This location and home is what exactly what we needed. A home away from home! It had everything we needed. It was close to the highway, 3 miles to grocery store and other amenities that you need if you did not bring them. The owner was in contact with me at all time if we needed anything. The owner took the time to ask me, to let her know when we got in due to our arrival time as 11pm. The owner was quick to answer any questions. The hot tub was a BONUS! The views of the Juniata River was Awesome. We were there for the Penn State White Out Game. PSU Campus was not that far and right off the Highway. Rest assure will be back next year for the PSU WO game. I highly recommend this location. Thank You Delma for having us!

River Home
This home was lovely, very relaxing and quiet. It was everything we were looking for on our small get away. Very clean home with comfy beds. The house was equipped with everything one may need. We loved making smores at the fire pit and feeding the ducks at the pond. The host was great, and communication was on point. Very much recommend this home away from home :-)

Niman House Fisherman's Paradise Review
Great property for fishing, whether you fish from the dock or you float down the Juniata river. We happened to do both and the fishing was very good, especially when we canoe floated from the end of the Lewistown Narrows to Mifflintown (approx. 4 miles). The property is located at about the 3 mile mark of that float. The other thing we loved about the property was that it was a great place for sitting around a fire at night and having a few beers. The grounds were open and large enough that the music and talking did not disturb the neighbors. We've been coming to the Juniata for 36 years, missing our annual trip just once due to Covid in 2020. Originally a float trip, it has now become a rent-a-house trip for the last 6 or 7 years. This house is unanimously our (6 guys in their mid 60's) favorite Juniata rental. I would like to thank the owner, Delma, for being such a gracious and helpful hostess. Her husband was also very helpful.

Niman House really is a fishermans paradise!
I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay. The fisherman/water theme throughout is lovely. The house is impeccably clean and fully stocked (linens, towels and kitchen!). Our family enjoyed feeding the geese/ducks, playing games, the hot tub and the river. It's right on the river for lots of water activities. The host is super friendly and responsive. We've already re-booked for next year, we just loved it so much. Highly recommend!

Great host, great location and place to stay!
Perfect place for what we were looking for - right on the river. Great fishing nearby and place had all the amenities. Nice dock right below to launch from and tucked in a little bit - perfect for a weekend getaway.
