This cabin was perfect for a family of 4 with two teens. Plenty of room and having the 2 bathrooms was a huge bonus. Location was perfect and quiet at night. Would definitely recommend
Would recommend the Turtle Chalet to anyone looking for a week away stay on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage! Place was clean, easily accessible and the owner was great to work with.
House was amazing, tons of room for all 6 of us adults. Very warm and cozy. Perfect location for the snowmobile trails and had plenty of room to park the snowmobiles. Will absolutely be coming back and would highly recommend the property to anyone I know
The place was very well kept and well supplied except for not have wash clothes. The view is awesome and will try to rent again in summer.

Comfort from being away from home.
After checking in we noticed the dishes were put away dirty but we sanitized them so we could use them. The water was low so we had to put in and take out our boat and was told by the owner we could beach our boat but due to no information that this property was in a retreat the neighbors told us no we could not allow it. One neighbor did let us use his dock the remainder of our stay. The home is beautiful and sits with beautiful views of the water. The advertisement should state that’s it’s in a retreat and rules to follow. Overall it was a great place and the neighbors were very nice to us.
The cabin worked well for four fishing buddies. There were some hiccups checking in, but the owner responded immediately and remedied the situation. Boat batteries had to be charged a short walk away from the cabin, but it worked out. Washer and dryer were convenient to have there. One key was lost, but owner was chill about it.
This is such a cute little cabin. We were there for a weekend snowmobiling trip. This rental has super easy access to the trails. We were there with our 2 teenage boys. There was plenty of space for us to hang out together on the large sofas or at the large kitchen table and everyone was able to have some space and privacy in their own rooms at night. It was also super nice to have a 2nd bathroom. It was too cold for us to use the porch area, but what a great spot that would be during a summer or fall trip. We head to Mercer every year, and we would certainly rent this cabin again.
This place was very nice. Roomy, easy to find, everything we needed. The only issue we had was that we had 2 boats and really only once place to charge the boat batteries.
Had an awesome time despite a slow bite. Couldn't have asked for a better location on the flowage. The views from the porch were stunning. Will be coming back next year adding this stay to our yearly pilgrimages.
The house and property were really quite nice. The listing indicates that a pier with electrical for charging boat batteries is available for use. Perfect.
The issue was this - this body of water experiences fluctuations in water level due to a dam controlled by an energy company. Four feet of fluctuation throughout the year is not uncommon.
I had found out that the water level when we were going to be there was two feet below full pool. When I asked if that would be a problem with the pier I was told that it could be, but that in that event I could beach our boat at the condo association boat launch - an unimproved sand beach - overnight. When I got the info for our stay it included the condo association rules which indicated that beaching one’s boat was no longer allowed, and that if a pier was unusable due to the water level, I’d have to launch and load my boat each time.
Needless to say, I couldn’t even get close to the pier (my boat is 17’-8” long), and it appeared that it’s the only pier in the area that had that issue. The kicker is that you can’t keep your trailer at the house you’re renting (where the electricity for charging the boat batteries is), but it had to be kept at the trailer parking area, which is 400-500 feet from the house. The residents are quite serious about that rule, too, even though my boat and trailer wouldn’t have blocked anyone’s driveway, and would almost not be visible from any of the homes.
I was able to talk to a few of them about my issue (when they confronted me about my offense), and they did allow me to park my boat/trailer on the concrete pad in front of the detached garage of the house (which is in full view of most of the homes).
Each launch included driving back to the house (not far at all), backing the trailer onto the pad, disconnecting the trailer and parking my truck in the driveway. Launching in the morning for a day of fishing was fine. Having to then reverse the process to load the boat back on the trailer, just to then disconnect it again on the pad to have dinner, then repeat the entire thing for fishing after dinner just became too much of a hassle to deal with.
If you enjoy fishing with your own boat at all times of the day and evening, I’d encourage you to make sure the water level is no more than one foot below full pool or you’ll be as frustrated as we were.
Our family had a wonderful time at the property and on the lake. The home has plenty of space for our family. Dan has provided pretty much anything you need right on the property which made cooking and the overall experience so nice. Additionally, at the last minute we were not able to get our pontoon boat that we reserved and Dan stepped up to help us find another one. He is a great property owner!! Thanks for the great place and all the help!!!
Great location on the Turtle Flambeau! The call of the loon will out you bed at night and greet you in the morning. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with thoughtful amenities in God’s country, this is it!
My Dad and myself stayed at the house for a nice fishing trip. The house and property were clean, cozy, and had everything we needed. It was very convenient having electric down by the tier to charge our boat batteries. The sun porch is the best part of the house and has a great view of the lake! No complaints.
Just returned from a four night stay with my son and his college buddies. This location is absolutely perfect for the snowmobile enthusiast. The flowage is great for sledding and ice fishing. Perfect location to hit the trails in any direction. Cabin was so nice with the views I could have just hunkered down there. Especially with all the nice amenities of home. Had a nice lunch everyday before we left to sled. I had forgotten my crock pot for the chili no worries we found a nice one to use in the cupboard. Beds were comfortable. Hot water was adequate. Just no long showers or space them out in the morning by 15 minutes. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning next year. Thanks Dan for everything!!
Excellent location for snowmobiling...1 block from the trails and local bar. Good info pa Kate provided by the owner. Looks like this would be a great cabin for a fishing trip
My family and I had a wonderful experience staying at this cabin. Everything was as advertised. Would definitely go back. Clean, cute and perfect size for my large family. Very convenient for snowmobiling as the trail goes right by it.
