Mendocino Tranquility Meadows is a historic birder's dream. Originally owned by legendary conservationist Jacques Helfer a renowned author of "99 Birds of the Mendocino Coast" and "The Natural History of Mendocino." A 2 acre pond is at the heart of the property and is home to many bird species including ducks, osprey, warblers, swallows, hawks, and owls. And yet less than 2 miles north of the famous town of Mendocino. Numerous beaches, Surfing, kayaking, bird watching, hiking, mountain biking, shopping, wine tasting….. and world class restaurants all minutes away!

Venture out and explore the nearby attractions such as popular Point Cabrillo Lighthouse & Museum, Caspar State Beach, and stunning Russian Gulch State Park with ocean bluff trails & beach, all only a 3 minute drive away.

Azul, a Southwest themed cozy cottage, features 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, full custom kitchen including granite countertops, and handsome gas fireplace stove for a romantic evening. Beautiful wood furniture throughout. Full bathroom with shower/tub. All windows look onto trees and nature. 1 queen bed in each bedroom for a total of 2 queen beds in Azul suitable for 4 total guests. Dwellings are farm chic, quaint and light filled with county rustic feel. Please note, we do not offer a TV. Get ready to relax and unplug! Whether you're seeking a cozy retreat or a family-friendly getaway, this property has everything you need for an unforgettable vacation in Mendocino.

Set off of Highway one, you can hear some highway noise outside the cottages but you cannot see the road or other houses. We have one security camera on the garage facing the driveway (facing away from the house) for everyone's safety. This place is close to amenities including grocery stores, pharmacies, shops, and medical clinics in both Mendocino (2 miles away) and Fort Bragg (7 miles away) yet it is like staying in a private park.

My husband and I came out to meet our new grandson and visit our adult daughter and son in law.
We had a wonderful stay. Being so close to coast, mountains, forests and all things nature made coming home to our rental a breeze. The cabin had everything we needed. Comfortable beds, sofas and beautiful windows allowing natural light. We walked the property and enjoyed the beauty of it as well.

Awesome rental!
My husband and I stayed here with our 7 and 5 year old daughters. The property is amazing - there are tons of trails and ponds that we all loved exploring. It was so fun for our kids to be surrounded by nature and they were in heaven running around on the trails. The cabin itself was comfortable and cozy, and had everything we needed. The location was great - the property is only a couple of miles from downtown Mendocino, and about 15 minutes from Fort Bragg. We only stayed for a weekend, but we would all love to come back for longer next time!

This was our 2nd year staying at Azul cabin. It's a very comfortable, quiet, convenient place to call home during our time in Mendocino. I hope we'll be able to visit again next year!

Azur is a small comfortable cottage
Azur is a small comfortable cottage in the woods. Nice hiking/walking trails on the property. It is close to state parks and the Point Cabrillo lighthouse. Nicely situated between Mendocino and Fort Bragg.

Great little getaway!
Nice little place to get away and enjoy nature. The ocean and access is close by as well as towns to shop. We enjoyed walking the trails on the property. We really our time here!

This house isnt fancy but was comfortable, well equipped and worked great for two couples. Beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. We also loved the private hiking paths, ponds and meadow. We would stay here again.

Rest and tranquility
We had a very pleasant stay at Tranquility Meadows in Azul Cottage. Comfortable furnishings, very clean and well maintained, conveniently located, close to town yet hidden away. We enjoyed exploring the trails on the property and others nearby. Communication with the host was excellent and he made it clear that if we needed anything we should let him know, but we didn't need a thing -- the cottage is well equipped. Would definitely stay here again if we are fortunate enough to return to the area someday!

The property location was great. Close to town (Mendocino and Ft Bragg) and activities like hiking and the beach. Love the meadow walk we took on the property the first day. We enjoyed our stay. Did have to figure out the heating but had both electric heaters and the propane fireplace. It was a good 5 days

Woodland Get-Away
Cozy, quiet, comfortable, well-appointed, and spacious accommodation on the edge of woodlands. The house was built by a bird watcher who chronicled all the birds in the area. Staying there made our time in Mendocino seem more anchored in nature and more authentic. The rooms are larger than they appear in the photos. Exceeded expectations.

Azul is a perfect, small cottage on a huge property, we were able to explore only a tiny bit of it. It's right off the highway, but there's virtually no noise at all, you may as well be all alone there. The location is only minutes from Mendocino and Fort Bragg and beaches and hiking. There's so much to do there, one trip simply isn't enough. It was the perfect, very much needed vacation from all the stress of the past 2 pandemic years.

Great spot
The cottage was really nicely laid out, surrounded by trees. A beautiful nature area and pond filled with waterlilies. Felt like our very own Giverny. Super location just 5 minutes from Mendocino and very close to a couple of state parks. Our only complaint, the lighting could be brighter. I'll definitely be back.

My friend and I stayed for 4 nights at the Azul property. We loved the location, between Mendocino and Ft. Bragg. It met our needs, nothing fancy, but a great place to land. ( other reviewers mentioned the heater- we had not problem-it was very easy to operate) We enjoyed hiking, wine tasting, beach combing, the Botanical Garden and all the local restaurants!

Lovely getaway
We had a great experience. The property is nestled in the woods with a large open meadow and multiple ponds. We had many walks around the property. The gas stove kept the house cozy. We had some trouble with the internet but Peter and his property manager responded right away and brought in a new router that worked perfectly. Location is perfect for visiting the coast, and the town of Mendocino. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Cute, but.....
The property itself is nice. The isssue were the beds, uncomfortable and lumpy. Would not stay here agan because of this. We were even thinking of getting a hotel to have a goid nights sleep. Also no TV available.

Mendocino Relaxation
We loved our stay. It was the perfect nature getaway we had been looking for. The place was clean, comfortable, and quiet. There was an abundance of detailed information provided that was very helpful. We do have 2 suggestions for the owners. Lamps in areas where you would want to read would be helpful in the evenings. Also, better fitting screens for the windows to keep out the mosquitoes. Otherwise, the place was perfect and our stay very enjoyable. Thank you.
