Eildon Melrose Holiday Cottages & Log Cabins -Langrig - gorgeous barn conversion, 2 mins from Melros

Langrig cottage is located at Dingleton Mains Farm, two minutes from Melrose's beautiful market square and historic town centre. Our holiday cottage is particularly suited for large groups (we have 5 other holiday cottages on the same site), families (we can provide a cot and high chair) and guests with dogs (dogs must be over 1 year old, max 2 dogs per cottage, £20 charge per dog, please mention when booking). If you like walking, with or without a dog, you will love the fabulous walks from the doorstep and we have a handy hosepipe available to wash off muddy boots or dogs. The 3 peaks of the Eildon hills, right behind the holiday cottages, are an iconic landmark in the area and a good challenge for keen walkers and adventurers. Our holiday cottages are situated on a 2 acre site with an orchard, woods and open garden areas with picnic tables and BBQs. We are accessed via a private road with no passing traffic so children can play safely and dogs can be walked off the lead.

Melrose has a unique mix of independent shops and a superb eateries. For guests wanting to cook, there's two butchers, two bakers, a greengrocer and a delicatessen all offering fantastic local produce. Or if you prefer a bit more convenience there's also a good Co-op supermarket in Melrose or several large supermarkets in Galashiels, around 5 miles away. For eating out there are several superb restaurants and cafes in Melrose and there's also several takeaway options too that will deliver delicious food to the holiday cottage. We have a list of recommended eateries in our cottage welcome folders to help guests find the best places.

The cottage has three bedrooms - the downstairs bedroom can be made up as two single beds or they can be zipped together to make a luxurious super-king size double bed and this bedroom has an en-suite shower room. Upstairs, there are two twin bedrooms (each has two single beds) and a separate bathroom with a bath and an over-bath shower. All beds have deep, comfortable mattresses and cosy all seasons duvets and pillows made from luxury micro-fibre soft as down, there's no feather bedding.

Also on the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room and a sun porch at the front which is a lovely place to sit and watch the birds feeding on the bird feeder hanging in the tree opposite the cottage. It's also a handy place for letting dogs and wet boots dry off if needed.

The kitchen is fully equipped and has an oven, electric hob, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator with small freezer compartment. The crockery is high quality Denby. There is a shared laundry facility which has a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a large chest freezer if you need extra space for any other frozen food such as ice creams. This room also serves as an information hub with pin boards and a leaflet rack giving lots of information on the best local attractions.

Wonderful week
We had a wonderful week at Langrig. Perfect setting, nestled by the beautiful Eildon Hills. The accommodation was excellent, for my mum, in particular, as she has mobility issues. Rob was extremely helpful and welcoming too. It is clear that the whole estate is well managed and maintained with the guests in mind. We will definitely be back.

Fabulous Cottage
Perfect location, quiet and with great views. The cottage was ideal for my husband who has mobility issues. Parking outside the door, all one level, wet room and grab rails made it so much easier and comfortable for us. Rob is a great host, very friendly & welcoming. We will definitely book again and recommend to friends.

Idyllic hillside hideaway
Excellent communications with Rob the host prior to arrival. The cottage was open when we got there and it wasn’t long before Rob popped by personally to make sure we had settled in well, to explain the facilities and check all was well. The cottage is situated in the beautiful Eildon Hills with a fabulous outlook over the town of Melrose. Plenty of walks around and about for all who are able but also plenty seating and viewing spaces for those who maybe can’t. It was lovely just to be able to watch all the many species of birds who visited including a woodpecker. We also saw squirrels and rabbits whilst watching the bird feeders. Very handy for the local towns and loads of lovely visitor attractions nearby. The accommodation itself is of a very high standard and extremely well adapted to make it fully accessible downstairs. All in all an ideal holiday venue for all the family. Thanks to Rob and his family for a fabulous break away.

The property was a treat. Easy access for the not so able with the added bonus of a wet room. Beautiful area and near the town. Cottage was spotless with good appliances, plenty crockery, cutlery cooking utensils even a welcome tea tray provided. Our Westie enjoyed it too.
