The property benefits from being in the heart of the countryside with views over green fields. We are spoilt for choice with country walks.
We are close to several National Trust sites and places of historical interest, including the UNESCO city of Bath, renowned for its Roman Baths, Georgian architecture and iconic Royal Crescent.
In the village of Whitley itself, we are very fortunate to have the Pear Tree serving fantastic food and hosting regular sell-out Comedy Nights. There you’ll also find the Whitley Village Stores, stocking all the basics you might need.
The village of Whitley also has a Cyclists’ Cafe with on- site bicycle repair shop. In addition, there is a 9-hole golf course with driving range and practice greens.
Lowden Garden Centre is in the neighbouring village of Shaw and boasts a restaurant, gift shop and farm shop that is brimming with the freshest local produce.
The charming, historic village of Lacock is just a stone’s throw away with it’s stunning Lacock Abbey, a medieval masterpiece that doubles as a film location for productions such as Harry Potter. Great Chalfield Manor and Garden, a charming restored fifteenth-century Manor House full of Edwardian period charm, is another local gem and well known film location. Castle Combe, a chocolate box village on our doorstep, is one you also won’t want to miss. Often named the ‘prettiest village in England’, Castle Combe is a quintessential Cotswolds village, located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Treat yourself to Afternoon Tea in the stately Manor House at Castle Combe if you can!
From starring on the small screen in Poldark to exotic peacocks and acres of picturesque countryside to explore, Corsham is a charming English market town just 5 minutes drive away. You can find a number of local amenities here including a post office, restaurants, pubs, cafes, takeaways, deli, florist and co-op.
The quaint historic town of Bradford-on-Avon is just a 15 minute drive from Whitley. Situated on the picturesque Kennet and Avon Canal, it is full of good restaurants, cafes and boutique-style shops, as well as the magnificent, medieval Tithe Barn and Saxon Church.
A short drive east leads to the prehistoric marvel of Avebury, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Avebury Stone Circle, larger and older than Stonehenge, invites contemplation on ancient rituals and mysteries. Stonehenge needs no introduction and is also a short drive (south east) from Whitley.
If you are travelling with children (or even if you are not), Bowood House and Garden and Longleat Safari Park are well worth a mention.
Major supermarkets, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Aldi, Lidl and M&S Foodhall are all within a 10 minute drive.
