We had a really lovely stay at Valhalla and hope to return in the future. The cabin is remote and private, surrounded by tree-covered mountains and beautiful sky. Mornings and evenings were spent on the deck, admiring the view, the birds, the horses, and plentiful wildlife. As others have mentioned, it’s a very private spot in the midst of an abundance of natural beauty.
The cabin is perfect for two with a very comfortable bed, fresh linens, winning views, a front deck AND back porch with comfortable seating, and a kitchen where we cooked many of our meals. The mountainside was cooler than surrounding areas and the split inside kept the cabin very comfortable even in the summer heat.
I suggest checking a map before your initial drive to the cabin. Waze missed an important turn and took us up the opposite side of the mountain, past an abandoned stripped car on the side of the rural mountain road, over some rough rutted roads to gated driveways. I had read the Valhalla reviews so was expecting something “barely paved” as one person mentioned. In actuality, this was not the case. After those sketchy roads on the other side of the mountain, the road to Valhalla was great. It was clearly marked and easy to traverse.
If you message ahead of time, you’ll be given the code to the door.
The cabin is about 20 minutes away from any stores/restaurants/etc. It’s a beautiful drive, it just means that you’ll want to have all of your essentials before you settle in for the night. We were
