"We were excited to stay in downtown Idar Oberstein since previously we had stayed a bit out of town. Sadly, the experience was lacking and bordered on depressing. "This is the second time we have stayed as my sister lives nearby. Spotlessly clean again and the hosts were there to check us in early. Gunter and Ulrika are so kind to our children, letting them play with toys in their house and garden. Nice touches are added like wine on arrival and snacks and chocolate for the kids. "Large place with separate bedrooms, large living room and well stocked kitchen. Our family of four was comfortable during our two night stay. We had good communication via email with the property. The view of the vineyards was amazing with small view of the river from our lower unit. It is on a big hill so a bit of schlep into the small commercial district and driving a stick was tricky, but parking was easy. "A lovely, well-equipped house in a stunning location with its own fabulous garden. Brilliant for our family group of 10. Lots to do locally. The gem museum, gem mine, Celtic settlement were great trips and the open-air swimming pool in Rhaunen was much enjoyed. We visited Herrstein twice! Klaus and Anna were really helpful hosts.
