"The property was very clean and well maintained. The only negatives were that the first night we arrived, a Saturday , it was very noisy till about 2 am. The source of the noise was outside the area of this establishment but in the same building. The other was that there was almost no storage space in the unit. Hence the 4 rather than 5."

"What a find! Centrally located in a "local traffic only" part of Lisbon. Surrounded by the livelyness of the city, this is a peaceful oasis in the midst of it all. We stayed in one of the one bedroom appartments in high season for a very reasonable price. It was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed! The front desk attendant was friendly and helpful! Breakfast was included and excellent. The interior patio was lovely as well. If we make it back to Lisbon, I would rebook this in...

"The place was quaint and lovely. The breakfast was great. A wide assortment of cheese, meat, eggs made to order, and small bite size dishes. What puts this place over the top is the staff. Priscilla, Mario, and our personal favorite Alex, were all exceptional and helpful with recommendations. We would recommend to any traveler. "

"Casa Balthazar is a delightful oasis amidst Lisbon's hubbub. Well located for getting here and there around the city and beyond, whether by foot, tram, or train, it's a lovely place to stay, with helpful staff, good breakfasts, and well-appointed rooms (several with nice views). It's not opulently luxurious, but it has an easy graciousness. I recently revisited the hotel and have recommended it to more than one friend traveling to Lisbon - all of us are fans. "

"This building was more than a century old! Many of the furnitures in the room are antiques too! The room is fine, othen than the fact the there is no private bathroom - 3 rooms share one in each of the two floors. The bathroom is in disrepair and the walls had water leak marks. Someone may not accept this as condition for hostal, but for a 100 yrs old building, can't argue much. Location is prime. "Both the property and staff are wonderful. It has lots of old world charm but with the advantage that all the modern amenities (e.g. WIFI, plumbing etc) work perfectly. The fresh morning breakfast is outstanding, especially when compared to the usual stuff in US hotels. The location in the Chiado is wonderful. Endless dining and shopping options. Extremely close to metro options. Just a wonderful spot to base your Lisbon visit."

"This place was awful. NO AIR CONDITIONING which is not mentioned anywhere on Expedia. Apparently, Expedia has that info but not listed anywhere. Would not have booked this place if I had known there was no air conditioning. No fans either and on top of that window was broken and couldn't be opened. Temp was close to 80 when I got there. Expedia was of no help finding me another room. Left within an hour of arriving. Temp next day was 102 degrees. Unacceptable at any price."
