We had a glorious week at Villa Flory in September 2019. The villa is as beautiful and comfortable as the photos show.
There is a wonderful emphasis on outdoor comfort with amazing views of the sea, several terraces and seating options, including a hammock with new netting. The different terrace levels (some covered) offer privacy when you want to have quiet time.
Communication with the owners was outstanding. It’s obvious they take great care of and pride in the villa. Thank you!
On the top/street level, there are 4 comfortable bedrooms, each with individual air conditioners and lots of closet space, and 2 full baths. Two rooms face the sea and share a terrace. Downstairs is a large living/dining room facing the sea, the kitchen, a smaller bedroom with little closet space, and one full bath. This bedroom does not have air conditioning. There are a lot of doors and windows that provide good cross-breezes.
The villa provides a lot of cooking pots/pans, plates, utensils, wine glasses, small beverage glasses, coffee cups, Bialetti stovetop coffee maker, dishwasher and detergent, dish soap, clothes washer and detergent (no clothes dryer), gas grill, beach towels, bath towels, hand soap, an iron, and three hair dryers. No shampoo or bath soap.
There are 140 steps down to the sea. There is no beach, but a stone landing from which to enter the crystal clear sea amid the characteristic rocks. The large swimming area is roped off to protect from the boat lane. Villa has sea equipment: shoes and noodles! The hot tub was clean and warm.
Nerano is a small fishing village, with several good restaurants. We particularly liked Maria Grazia. We hired a private boat and captain for a day’s excursion with Cooperativa S. Antonio driving around Capri, stopping for lunch, and going to less-touristy spots to jump out and swim.
Driving to Nerano is an adventure, with hair-pin curves and narrow roads, which is typical of the area. If you rent a car, rent small! There is a grocery store – Conad – about 15 minutes from the Villa via the curviest part of the drive. GPS worked well. We took day trips to Pompeii and Positano. Positano was disappointing – it’s one big tourist mall.We had a great lunch at Wine-dark House.
