We booked using Vrbo & property was described as a ‘family villa with private pool’. The property is located off the main road and accessed by a narrow, single track road (1mile) which the taxi driver had difficulty negotiating. The property is not a stand-alone villa as we had expected from the description but rather the middle flat of a three storey building, accessed by a small set of stairs. Inside, the property is as described; 2 bedrooms, a single bathroom with WC, washbasin and shower. The kitchen & living room is open plan with TV and 2 seater couch and a dining table for 4. The kitchen has fridge-freezer, cooker and sink and was fairly basic with limited cooking equipment, kitchen utensils and a coffee pot for one. There was air con in each of the rooms which was very welcome and internet access, though we did lose this after a thunder storm half way through the holiday and it did not return. The property has only limited 4G coverage which was quite frustrating. The pool is located to the side of the house and accessed down two sets of stairs. To our surprise the pool was not private and not for our exclusive use but rather shared with the rental property directly below our ‘flat’. This was very disappointing to us as this had been the major selling point of the property and the reason we had booked. I think the family already staying below us were equally surprised to see us at ‘their’ pool as were the subsequent visitors to the property during our stay. The pool and surrounding area is lovely, being incorporated into a very well established mature lemon grove and also a lovely terrace with view of the Bay of Naples in the distance. The property is actually nearer the town of Saint Agata, not Massa Lubrense; it has some nice shops, restaurants & supermarkets. There is an infrequent bus service to Sorrento (10km from Saint Agata) though we opted to hire a car to avoid the 1mile walk to and from the main road. We were misled by the advert, and would not have booked had we known about the shared pool or distance from a main road. The owners were pleasant and friendly though we did feel the owner could have been more helpful when our bags were lost on the flight leaving us without our own pool towels to use while we waited on our luggage being delivered. Instead the owner offered to charge us 2euro per towel/day to rent which we declined. I would recommend Casa Aprea for a holiday but be aware of location and shared pool.
