Luxurious Stone House with a Fabulous Sun Terrace and Stunning Panoramic Views

Situated on the beautiful Canal du Midi, Mountain View is a charming 13th century village house with a fabulous sun terrace and stunning panoramic views over the Alaric Mountains and Languedoc vineyards.
A beautiful stone spiral staircase leads into the bright, open-plan living and dining area and step through any of the three sets of French doors to the fabulous private south-facing terrace: an ideal spot for sunbathing, relaxing and summertime dining.
The house boasts a large, fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and a washing machine, and the lounge has comfy sofas with Sky TV and Wi-Fi Internet.
There are three spacious bedrooms and two full bathrooms accommodating 6 guests comfortably and we include good quality bed linens and towels in all our rental rates.

There is a fabulous bakery and mini-mart in the village, perfect for fresh bread and pastries in the morning and basic food provisions. Within a few minutes’ walk you'll find a friendly terrace bar serving drinks and basic lunches and a nice hotel restaurant serving more gourmet lunches and dinners. A mobile pizza van also stops in the village twice a week.
In the nearby town of Trebes, just an 8 minute drive away, you will find a choice of 5 restaurants and all amenities including 3 supermarkets, chemist, doctors, post office, banks and a tourist info office.
Local Information:
The house is located in the village of Marseillette on the border of the Corbieres and Minervois wine regions, so there are plenty of opportunities to take a guided wine tour or to simply visit local producers to taste and purchase excellent local wines.
Just 15 mins away is the medieval Cité de Carcassonne, a Unesco heritage site and an absolute must-see! 52 towers and two rings of fortified walls surround a bustling town with small, narrow cobbled streets lined with restaurants and boutique shops.
The beautiful Canal du Midi is just a 5 minute stroll from the house. You can take a guided cruise or hire your own boat by the hour, day or week. The tree-lined canal tow paths are great for cycling due to the flat terrain (6 bikes available for hire) or try venturing down the Etang de Marseillette behind the Canal to take a beautiful evening stroll on quiet roads lined with sunflower fields, apple orchards and vineyards.
The area around Languedoc is steeped in history; you can visit hilltop Cathar castles, circular villages, beautiful abbeys, cathedrals and historic market towns or just take a drive through picturesque nearby villages and stop to wander around the different local open-air markets and village fetes. For the DaVinci Code aficionados, consider exploring the exciting mystery of the Rennes le Chateau and the Knights Templars
Mediterranean beaches are about a 40 minute drive but there is also a lovely, safe swimming lake with a sandy beach just 15 minutes away. Climbing, walking and hiking are also all popular activities around the area, as well as canoeing, kayaking and fishing along the river Aude.

Wonderful stay
My family completely enjoyed our time at Andrea's home in Marseillette. The location is excellent for access to Carcassone, vineyards, the beach, and Cathar country. The home itself is exceptionally well laid-out, comfortable, and clean. We could not have asked for a better place to stay and would absolutely recommend it to our family and friends. Thank you, Andrea!

Super views from Marseillette
The property is located close to the tower in Marseillette and has been created using the walls of the historic fort. However, the property has all the modern festures now expected and wonderful terrace looking south over the Aude valley.

Mellow in Marseillette
The small town of Marseillette was perfectly located for us to explore the Minervois wine region, the City of Carcassone, and the Canal Midi. It was a pleasure to return home at the end of every day to relax on the sunny terrace with a glass of wine, and contemplate the outstanding view of the lovely French countryside. The home was comfortable, nicely furnished with all the amenities we expect from a high end rental, and our hostess was exceptional. Highly recommended.

Perfect Location for Visiting the Area
This property offered more than everything that a visitor would need to have a wonderful stay in the area. From cooking supplies to travel books and even toys for my grandchildren. And much more! The large deck was perfect for morning and evening meals. Carcassonne, Lagrasse, Narbonne, Canal du Midi and many wineries are just minutes drive away.

A nice base to explore Carcassone and surrounding area
The property is very clean and well equipped, with three spacious bedrooms. Beds were very comfortable and there is plenty of hanging and storage space for clothes. Electric points are plentiful, so it's easy to charge by the bedside. No plumbing issues and plenty of hot water. There is a shower room on the upper floor and a bath with shower over on the main floor. One of the bedrooms also has a sink, which is useful. The kitchen is spacious enough for cooking and has everything needed. The interior dining table comfortably seats four, and the table outside can seat 6-8. The balcony is very lovely in the sunshine. Lounge area is comfortable, with a TV. We took our own Roku stick, so I can't comment on the channels available. Internet router and wifi point is by the TV. Due to the thick walls in the house, you can't expect wifi coverage much beyond the living area. The Internet speed is quite slow at around 3Mbps, but it is sufficient for streaming TV. Mobile signal is good, so if you have roaming, you can use your data plan. Parking and access to the property is a little tight, but if you have a smaller car, you'll be fine. There is also a carpark by the property which is easier to access. The neighbours are friendly and the place is mostly quiet. We had one evening where some drunk teens decided to sing loudly in the car park until 1am, but this was likely due to the public holiday that occurred in the week we stayed. Obviously, that's no reflection on the property or the owner, who was very friendly. She provided some bread, milk and a few other bits since we arrived on Sunday evening when everything is shut! Very kind and very much appreciated. We were left to enjoy the property and our holiday. There is a small grocery store within short walking distance, which is great for getting a few bits. There are supermarkets in Capendu and Trebes - a short drive away. We did attempt to eat at the bar/restaurant but didn't receive a very warm welcome, so we went elsewhere. Your luck may be better. Excellent accommodation, deserving of 5/5 stars, and thoroughly recommended.

Casual Comfort
Our stay at Andrea's apartment was very pleasant and met all of our needs! We were a party of four and were very comfortable in the shared living areas as well as in our bedrooms/baths. the balcony was a wonderful place to dine in the evening and breakfasts, due to warm nights, were also enjoyed outside. Great to have a washing machine and clothes drying area and kitchen was lovely. Easy access to Carcassonne and many pretty hillside towns and vineyards! Would request a stay again!

The property is in an ideal location, perfectly placed to explore the local towns and beaches. The house is fully equipped and we needed for nothing. A great week in Marseillette
We felt very at home in this clean and well appointed home. Andrea warmly welcomed us on arrival. We were immediately taken by the magnificent view from the large balcony. There was lots of information provided about places of interest in the region. Andrea was available to help by phone when we needed it. Although there is only small grocery store and bar in the village, the supermarkets at Trèbes is only short six minute drive. The Canal du Midi provides interest and is a short walk from the house. Great care has been taken to provide those little things that you might need. Highly recommended!

Fantastic stay in France
My wife and I, and another couple spent 6 nights in the house in Marseillette France. Andrea, the owner of the house, speaks English, so it was very easy for us to communicate with her. She answered our questions, prior to our arrival, and gave us lots of information about the area upon our arrival. Andrea has done a fantastic renovation of the house, and has equipped it with all the essentials we needed during our stay. We visited several local markets while we were there, and purchased food to cook a majority of our meals. There was also a large, modern grocery store within a 7 or 8 minute drive of the house. The kitchen was modern and furnished with all the items we needed to prepare our meals. We ate many of our meals on the sun terrace at the villa, which provides a wonderful view of the French country side. It was so relaxing just to sit and enjoy the beauty and the peacefulness of that part of France. We did day trips each day to various near by towns which was so enjoyable. We give Andrea, and her wonderful house, an A+.

A luxuriously appointed house with a great panorama of the location
This house had every convenience needed for an enjoyable vacation. It was clean, spacious and well equipped. The relaxing terrace gave a magnificent view of the surrounding valley, mountains and countryside. Its convenient location meant that many of the attractions of the area were in easy reach. Andrea’s help and advice meant our stay was trouble free. A really beautiful house that we would return to and recommend to anyone.

Fantastic Place to Stay
Our Party of five, covering three generations of the family, stayed for a week in Andrea's fabulous house. It is such a beautiful place to come back to after a days exploring. The house is very comfortable and fully catered for our extended family. Andrea was a great host and all went very smoothly in regard to communication and ease of check in / out. I was a little concerned about parking when we booked the house, however as it turned out there is abundant and easily accessed parking some thirty metres and a few steps from the front door. I was also a little concerned how my ninety (a sprightly ninety) year old parents would handle the steps at the house, however again as it turned out most of the house is on one level and my parents were readily able to negotiate the one flight of steps up to that level. The pay off is the magnificent balcony with 180 degree sweeping views of the valley. Thanks once again for your hospitality Andrea.

Location Comfort Hospitality
Mountain View is a perfectly located property, in a quiet village on the Canal du Midi, but close to bigger centres such as Trebes and Carcassonne. Car parking was no problem, as there is a car park just behind the property. The villa is extremely well appointed, boasting a large kitchen and spacious bedrooms. As we are two couples, having bathrooms and bedrooms on different levels gave a nice sense of privacy. The villa is tastefully furnished, with plenty of towels and bed linen. The terrace is a delight, offering a panoramic view across the valley to the mountains, and a superb place to dine, with barbecue facilities. The weather was very temperate during our stay in early summer, but there are fans and and heaters for more extreme temperatures. The villa is tastefully furnished. It is in a wonderful location to explore the delightful small villages and the bigger centres such as Castres, Narbonne, Beziers, Toulouse, Limoux and Albi. A few must dos are the Abbey of Fontfroide, Grotte de Limousis with its splendid light show, Cathar Castles, the gorge at Minerve and the bastide town of Mirepoix. Trebes, the closest town (7km), has supermarkets, all the usual services and several very good restaurants, most of them with waterside dining. Andrea is the perfect host, welcoming, generous and accommodating. She is easily contacted should you need any help. The villa is well stocked with books, a few DVDS, board games and if you would like to hire them, bicycles. We enjoyed a fabulous 3 weeks in Marseillette, and would strongly recommend Mountain View.

Threshold for countryside adventure
Upon arrival, we were met by the gracious hospitality of the owner (and restorer!) of this property who oriented us to the home and the vicinity. The house is well-equipped for meal preparation and for comfortable resting with a wonderful view of the Alaric mountain range. Though the weather was quite windy during our time, we had a wonderful stay in this old village which is close to Minerve, Carcassonne, and the beautiful and varied region of the Corbieres. For those traveling in the "off-season," be aware that many restaurants are closed. A delightful place embedded in history and the love of contemporaries like the owner who helps share this rich culture.

What a view.
Stayed here as a family of 5 in late October. From the first point of contact with Andrea the communication has been excellent. The house is a charming French abode with the most amazing terrace and views. Originally we wanted to stay in Centre Carcassonne but I am so glad we didn't. This house is perfect for exploring the area and there is so much to do, we visited Mirepoix for the Monday Market, LaGrasse, Narbonne and Carcassonne. The house is centrally located for visiting all of these places. We went to the bolangerie every morning to get our croissants which we were able to eat on the terrace to make the most of the view. The house is so well equipped and Andrea really has thought of everything even down to a decent hairdryer and basket of toiletries. We ate out every lunchtime when exploring the area and then made the most of playing cards, eating bread and cheese and enjoying local wine back at the house in the evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening stroll taking in a circular route by the canal as recommended by Andrea. If you are thinking about booking this house then do so before word gets out how good it is.

A true home from home. Authentic and charming.
From the moment you see the property it is abundantly clear how much time, effort and thought that Andrea has put into this house. Andrea has thought of and provided everything that you could need. There is no detail that has been overlooked. The house is spotless! The house which has excellent views is located in a small traditional village which is situated on the Canal Du Midi, a minutes walk from the boulangerie and a few minutes walk from the canal.
