Best place ever the hardest part was getting out the cab because you have to walk 2 block which is easy to get lost

Authentic, spiritual and confronting at times. Arrange for someone to get you to the hotel.

Good for the price
The riad is fine, but not spectacular. Half of our group spoke some French, half did not. Other reviews say you need French to stay here, but I think if you are friendly and patient, you can get by without it. Breakfast was good. Wifi works well. Showers were good and hot! Heaters in the room were very effective. We booked transport to the riad from the airport through their recommended taxi. It was easy and convenient, and a worker from the riad met our taxi to walk us through the maze - I would recommend this if you are traveling with a lot of baggage or children. The location is fine, but not ideal. It is a bit of a hike from the main sections of the medina, but nothing unbearable...maybe 20 minutes.

Peaceful
Although the staff didn't speak much English, we got by using a mixture of hand signals, French and English! Lovely place, a little out the way if you're worried about walking back late at night. Felt very secure and peaceful once inside though. Breakfast was pancakes, bread, croissants honey and jam. Not to my taste but OK if you like that sort of thing.

Very clean
Lovely and clean noone had a word of English, we got really overcharged for taxis, 600MAD (€60) for a trip to the Gardens, shops etc. This really put a dampner on our stay. It was really nice though a 20 minute walk from any of the sights. But the charges were exorbidant, so we will not go there again.

Good location and breakfast, lonely at night
Breakfast was very good, with crepes, bread and coffee and no specific times to have breakfast. Fatima, the owner, was very very helpful and very good people. Only disadvantage for us was that no one in the Riad spoke English. Location is good as is 20 min walk from the touristy plaza so on your way there you get to know the rest of Marrakesh. Streets are safe during the day but get sketchy after 9pm. Unfortunately the Riad has no staff at night and if there is no other guests in the Riad you can find yourself in this big house on our own which is quite scary. If going in winter rooms are quite cold.

Riad Tchina - Nice but be prepared to walk
The riad itself is lovely however it's location is not so great. It is a 20 min walk to the main square which is essentially where you need to go to get any sort of food/drink etc. The neighborhood is friendly but very much in the heart of the local area and you will stand out like a sore thumb! Also make sure you get the telephone number of the riad in advance as we arrived and there was no one to greet us. Luckily a guest staying at the hotel heard us banging on the door and came to open it for us. Once inside we called them and they came over immediately but as the language barrier was a problem we couldn't explain what had gone wrong. Next time i would definitely stay close to the square.

Riad Tchina was great
We stayed at Riad Tchina for 2 nights and had a great time. The women who run this hotel are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. They helped us with everything we needed and gave us lots of tips. The place is about 15 mins walk from the centre of the Medina which may discourage some visitors to the city but if the walk doesn't scare you, this place is highly recommended.

incredible.
everything was amazing about this hotel! the woman who ran the place was so sweet and friendly. she let me leave my bags when i went for a desert excursion and she got me a stick for wireless internet for my laptop at no extra charge and she helped get me acquainted with the place and the directions to and from the medina straight away. i had fresh milwi crepes with honey, fresh squeezed oj and strong coffee every morning at whatever time i wanted. the pool was refreshing and the terrace was gorgeous. the air con was so handy. you can't beat the price for the quality and location! it was so comfortable and i felt right at home. :)

Wonderful Riad, lovely people, would hope to return
The Riad was beautiful in decoaration and the owners and staff were very friendly and accomodating. The rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the main square which is fine and once you find your way (I am bad with directions) the walk is enjoyable and bustling with people and donkeys and mopeds. I think that this Riad is amazing value for money and a wonderful place to stay - an oasis of calm in the hectic but beautiful city of Marrakech.

Hotel Riad Tchina - amidst real Marrakechi life!
The Riad Tchina was everything we expected and more. I booked to stay 3 nights with my boyfriend for a sightseeing holiday of the real marrakech. The location of the hotel certainly gives that - but if you don't like a bit of hustle and bustle to get to where you're staying then it's probably not for you. But to experience the real lives of people around you the location is perfect. Don't be put off by it's surroundings though, inside it's like an oasis. There IS a small pool but be warned even in 40degree weather it was freezing! - Though we still used it daily to cool down, it was a real plus. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. My only criticism would be the lack of hot water for showers, however this is ofter something hotels in the old city cannot avoid. Breakfast was brought to us at a little table in the courtyard and was great (freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh made pancakes!). The ladies running the hotel are lovely, but speak very little English so brush up on your French. As with a lot of hotels in the old city you have to pay a special fee when you arrive, that I think is imposed by hotel regulations or something. But don't worry it was really not too much even on our student budget. The hotel is 100% worth going to, to get real authentic Moroccan life. Don't be put off by mucky streets, it's part of the charm; and the hotel inside is worth the confusing task of finding it! (On trying to find it - you will probably have to ask a local to take you right to the door, they often want to be given some money for this, but it's impossible to find otherwise as it is not signposted by any means and is in fact down an alley off a street off a bigger street, all with no names!). TOTALLY WORTH A VISIT. Could recommend it to anyone.

This riad was the lowest point of our stay
I was disappointed with this riad. Although it was spotlessly clean, the staff were unfriendly (to the point of rudeness) and spoke zero English (and made no attempt to accommodate for differences in translation). As soon as we arrived we were told that we also had to pay an unexpected 'local tax' which amounted to 10% of the overall cost. We were suspicious of this at first as Expedia makes no note of it, but other people staying here all said they had been charged too. Contrary to what I had read about this riad, they do not serve dinner and there is no wifi - this is a very basic place to stay in general. Similarly, the breakfast isn't bad but never varies. If you stay for more than a few days it gets very boring. The few drinks that are provided at the communal minibar in the lounge are incredibly expensive: a bottle of water costs 5 times what it does from a shop on the square where things are often overpriced anyway. It is located at least 20 mins from the main square, through a labyrinth of back alleys which are quite intimidating when you first arrive. It isn't a pleasant walk either, but a slog through extraordinarily crowded, fume filled streets. There are without doubt authentic riads closer to the sights with rooms available for the same price, with better service and better amenities.

Nice riad when inside but would not recommend.
The lady who we met when we got to the riad did not speak any English at all. The riad although in the medina was still quite far from the main souks etc (you have to get a taxi to them). The taxi could not take us right up to the entrance of the riad. There was a powercut the 1st and only night we were there then there was a creature in my friend's bed which fortunately she found before she got into the bed but then we couldnt sleep in our rooms after seeing that! There was no tvs in the rooms and the tv in the living room only had french speaking channels! The one good thing was the breakfast which was lovely oh and the riad once inside was really peaceful and lovely. If you want to stay in the very busy medina and live amongst the marrakechis and ur quite happy to get a taxi everyday to the souks etc then this is the place for you. If not stay away. Omar the expedia rep was brilliant and a real life saver! He met us on the first day and gave us an overview of marrakech and where to go to. When we decided we could not stay there another night he didnt ask why he simply organised another hotel for us and then he came to see us to make sure we settled in.

Lovely peaceful, clean riad
I've just come back from a wonderful week in Marrakech staying at Riad Tchina. Even though our flights were seriously delayed (3 hours), so we arrived at 1am rather than 10pm, our transfer still waited for us, and delivered us to the Riad where the owner made us welcome. The Riad is clean and peaceful, and the breakfasts each morning were excellent. It is a 20-25 minute walk to Jemaa el Fna, which gets a bit boring over the week - but otherwise this is an excellent base. The owner has a deal with a taxi/tour firm to do trips to places like Essaouira and the Atlas mountains. We thoroughly enjoyed our circuit of the Atlas.

A recommander vivement !
