Fab time, great food and very helpful we had a great stay
Delightful country pub-restaurant. Great friendly personal service, spotlessly clean, lovely comfortable room with everything you need. Highly recommended. Can’t wait until the rest. And…the TV was properly tuned and screen quality was superb…full English breakfast lovely…
The Barleycorn is situated in the middle of a village, and it was lovely to listen to the wood pigeons burbling/cooing through the window. The rooms are not above the pub, but behind, and consequently quiet; ours was nicely furnished and the bed/mattress comfy. The owners are enthusiastic and welcoming. The main disadvantage to the location concerns traffic, such as Macdonald's lorries, that seems to race along the road:
it makes finding somewhere to safely walk the dogs a little challenging. We needed a location that was close to Ludgershall, and Collingbourne Kingston was convenient.
My husband, my 9 month old baby and I stayed at The Barleycorn for one night due to a relatives birthday in the area. The room we had was excellent, spacious and clean.
Not a negative - just one thing, our room didn’t have a kettle (it had a lovely posh coffee machine - which wouldn’t be an issue for most people), and I had planned on making my baby’s bottles fresh in the morning which I then couldn’t do. I’m sure if I’d have asked for freshly boiled water from the owners they’d have given me some but we were on a tight schedule and didn’t have time. Breakfast was delicious and the owners were generous in letting us check out when we needed to.
However we were able to check in early, the reception wasn't very friendly. No further information about breakfast or any other e.g. regarding wifi (which wasn't available in in the end)
The headboard of the bed had stains on and cobwebs were present in the bathroom.
When it came to Sunday morning breakfast was only available till 9.30am which is a little early and, would we have known, would have attended.
All in all not a great experience and not a great advert..
