Thos was our second time staying at this property and we had a wonderful stay. It is close enough to the ski resorts, restaurants and casinos while providing a peaceful and quiet place to stay. The property is gorgeous with the rushing creek and hiking options.

Tucked Away Treasure
This property is all and more than is described. It was a delight to sit on any side of the cottage and enjoy the sublime views. The owners are taking great care of the natural landscape. The cottage kitchen amenities were clean and classy and the linens and towels were luxurious. We hope to make this a regular trip.

Beautiful Getaway
We booked a last minute 4 day stay here in Markleeville. We usually camp but, have an infant and decided to rent this beautiful cabin. The cabin is vey nicely built in a perfect location. All the neighbors are really friendly. Mike was very responsive and gave us some great fishing tips. My goal for the trip was for my son (4 yrs old) to catch his first trout on his own. First day he got one up by the campground and 4 more over the next few days. We drove and did a few hikes to the lakes in the Hope Valley and visited downtown Markleeville. Overall, very pleasurable experience we will definitely book again.

Lovely stay!
My husband and I had a lovely time at this cute cottage right outside of Markleeville! Nestled in a small valley, we loved hearing the river while we slept! It was clean and well appointed, and despite having no oven, between the hotplates the toaster oven, and the BBQ the owner loaned us for the weekend we were able to cook with no issues (it was a little dark in the kitchen, but a headlamp solved that.) We watched the multitude of stars and enjoyed the fire pit. We even had some bear sightings, as they evidently loved the chokeberries nearby. It was a fabulous jumping off point to our unforgettable hike to Winnemucca Lake, with lots of wildflowers still in bloom and waterfalls and streams still gushing. The high elevation was the only thing we had to adjust to. Highly recommend this rental, as it was hard to leave and among so much beauty. Yosemite was calling, but we hope to be back! Thanks so much, Mike!

Cottage in the woods!
All went smoothly getting to the cottage! First impressions are important, and as we opened the door, our first impression was clean, neat and a perfect place to spend a few days! Away from everything, except trees and a river out the back door. The sounds of the river, the leaves shaking in the breeze were enough to make you forget about any worries you may have had before you got there! Everything we needed was provided and the cottage is a perfect get-away! The bed and linens were so comfortable and helped to give a great night's sleep. The "cave-like" shower was awesome. It was a little warm the days we stayed which made for slow fishing all around the area, but as they say, a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work! Sitting out one evening in the back area enjoying an adult beverage, a large beautiful chocolate brown bear came around the corner, stood up and started to eat berries off the bush! He glanced over, saw us , and lowered himself quickly and high tailed it back into the woods! He wanted nothing to do with us! What a treat! Overall, a great location away from the hustle of real life! A perfect place to hang out if you like the great outdoors and privacy! Even though we were away from everything, the WiFi and Directv didn't make us feel totally isolated, which was nice. Thanks, Mike, for a great place to stay and we're planning on coming back soon!

BREATHTAKING PERFECTION !!!
This property and our host, Mike, made our stay at this stunning retreat an amazing and memorable experience. Our visit coincided with historic snowfall in the Sierras, literally hundreds of thousands of tons of snow shut down highways, cut power, caused avalanches, etc. but we arrived to a freshly plowed road and driveway with even a hand-shoveled pathway to the front door through 4 foot deep blasting snow. And that was just the beginning. Our host, Mike, texted us to see that we'd arrived safely and texted again in a couple days to see if all our needs were met. They certainly were !! Every aspect of this immensely appealing little lodge is perfect. It's very clean, which to me is important and the linens and towels are far better quality than those in many hotels. The downstairs master bedroom is perfect yet the upstairs is nicely appointed as well, and can accommodate a family comfortably. The decor is current and the property doesn't show much age, especially considering the winter conditions. Both Wifi and satellite TV worked very well for us, despite the historic stormy weather. Cell coverage is spotty but our InReach satellite device worked perfectly. Unfortunately we were unable to see the creek during our stay (it was buried in the snow) but we fell asleep to its soothing sound at night and spoke about how splendid this private little treasure of a place is. The surrounding near-vertical mountains afford soaring views of boulders and pines... a photographer's dream. Aspens sprinkled around the property lend another opportunity for terrific photos or to simply enjoy their part of the endless breathtaking views. Our night vision viewing and photographing equipment worked wonderfully with low ambient lighting surrounding us. At any time of the year this home is a treasure not to be missed. Thank you to our host, Mike, for everything. And a special thank you (and kudos) to Derrick, the smiling snowplow hero of the neighborhood who cheerfully cleared our driveway daily !! With Sincere Thanks and Warm Regards... Cat and Matt

Great Cottage
My wife and I with our two kids needed a quick getaway and this was just perfect. It's a newer, well-appointed cottage, next to a larger main house. The creek is 20 yards off the back door. It's really a great place to stay while exploring Alpine County.

Comfortable Mountain Cottage
Great location for the Death Ride to ride to/from the start/finish. It was great to have a comfortable cottage to stay in before and after such a long ride. This is probably one of the most well equipped cottage I’ve ever stayed in. Although the home doesn’t have AC, it was a non issue with the cool breeze & multiple fans provided by the owner. Mike was great and responsive with his communication. I would definitely stay here again!!

Excellent
This was an exceptional experience. I felt like I was staying in the mountain cottage of a good friend who wanted to make sure that my family was comfortable. Pictures can’t really show all of the attention to detail, the warm fire place, and the well stocked kitchen, clean bathroom and shower, etc. My last visit to the area I stayed 3 days at the Edgewood resort. For the purpose of relaxing and enjoying life in the Sierras this is a far better option. It would also make for a great romantic getaway. If arriving In the evening in the snow it would be good to arrive with food as this is located in a quieter area without the commercial traffic.
