Perfect for our 3 generation family time at Yosemite
Mariposa Ridge Retreat was the perfect setting for our family. Very convenient to glorious Yosemite and wonderful to come back to at the end of the day. We loved the view, the deck and the hot tub. We grilled out and ate breakfast in and the kitchen met all our needs. The 13 and 9 yr. old explored the property and looked for wild animals. One family member did see a fox early one morning. House was very clean and master bath is amazing. We highly recommend this property. I should also mention it was very quiet. No trucks were heard!

Heavenly, for sure!
Mariposa Ridge Retreat was wonderful. Quiet, clean, very nicely set up and the hot tub was my husband's favorite part! He was in it 3 times a day at least. We made day trips into Yosemite National Park everyday, so the location was perfect. An excellent retreat for sure. James & Rachel McComiskey

Beautiful views, homey property
While the property is out in the country, it was easy to find and a close drive to Mariposa. We were impressed with the tourist information center and the staff's knowledge of Yosemite Park. The town of Mariposa is charming with a great grocery store with good steaks and seafood in the butcher shop. The house was comfortable and spacious. While it was only my husband and me this time, there were two additional bedrooms with 3 queen beds. 8 people would be very comfortable. We enjoyed cooking out on the deck. It was too cold to use the hot tub, but it was certainly inviting. Glad there was a big soaker tub in the master bath! A large picture window in the living room looked over the valley and up the snow capped mountains in the distance. Red tail hawks sailed the updrafts and a chipmunk played on the deck. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area.

Winter Retreat
My husband and I had a great time at Mariposa Ridge Retreat. The house was clean and spacious. The hot tub was great and got very hot! If you are looking for a nice, quiet getaway, this could be your place. The owners were very quick to respond if you had a question. However, my one complaint is that I emailed about 2 weeks after our visit to inquire about how we were to get our $100 refundable deposit, and I was told to keep an eye out in the mail as they send a check. It is not one month after our stay, and I have not received the refund. I emailed one more time to ask if it had been mailed or when to expect it to be mailed, and the only response I got was the same as before "keep an eye out for a check in the mail". They did not answer my question on WHEN it was/will be sent. I would have thought that a refundable deposit would have been returned well before an entire month of your visit. So, we're still "keeping our eye out" and hope it comes soon!

Great stay
My family of 8 just stayed here over spring break. We all had a great time! Very clean spacious house with a fully stocked kitchen. We loved having the hot tub after full days of hiking yosemite. The house is a short drive to the south entrance of yosemite, and a few minuet drive to the town that has plenty of restaurants and stores. The owners are very nice and helpful. We will defiantly be staying here again next time we are going to yosemite.

Disappointed. Some features misrepresented.
I wanted to take a "working vacation," so I could spend my days on vacation and work online at night while my wife was asleep. So I chose this property because it listed "Internet: YES" on the overview page. THE BAD: This property DOES NOT have ANY internet access. If you read the fine print carefully (which I didn't) , by "internet available" the owner means that there is WiFi available two miles away at some burger joint in Mariposa. Steve (the owner) told me that the "internet: YES" on the overview page was a "typo." Also the property isn't as secluded as the pictures would suggest. There is a house just 50 yards behind with semi trucks parked all around it, which I can clearly see out the kitchen window. You can also see and hear the neighbors when they are outside, or when they startup the semi trucks. This is more of a "ranchette" than a secluded mountain top retreat. May be considered "secluded" if you're from the city. THE POSITIVE: Great views of the sunrise in the morning. Hot tub out on the deck is a great way to spend the evenings. Very roomy, very clean. Master bathroom is HUGE, and very well stocked with linens. Just secluded enough to be quiet but NOT private. Easy drive to Yosemite. Overall great for getting away from it all, without being too far from it all. It gets cold at night the time of year we stayed, but the heat works well and there is a very nice faux fireplace in the living room which is cozy. PLENTY of blankets in the bedrooms. I would have given this property four or five stars if it had both of the only two features for which I rented it: the hot tub AND internet service. Because internet availability was misrepresented, I gave it a 50% rating because I feel I only got 50% of what I thought I was paying for. I suggest you call the owner before you book to ensure that all the features you may be counting on this property having actually exist.

great location, wonderful cabin
Excellent base camp to visit Yosemite and the surrounding parks. Average drive to/from the cabin was about 45 minutes and its a fantastic drive. We really appreciated being able to make a quick drive down the the town of Mariposa to get supplies and enjoy a nice meal at the local restaurants. Cell service is non-existent on Sprint, however, AT&T has no issue. Some additional amenities would be nice. There is a tv but only a limited amount of channels. It would be nice if there bunch of board games/puzzles/cards to play or horse shoes/bags/bocce ball for outside. The cabin itself is very easy to get to and well marked with signs. It's comfortable and spacious with a great deck and hot tube. The hot tub was a perfect way to spend the evenings after a long hike. The owners are very responsive and will go out of their way to make sure everything is ok. We really appreciated everything they did to make us feel at home. Great price and great value for a trip to Yosemite. I'd stay here again.

Nice alternative to Yosemite Area Hotels
My family of 4 + Grandma spent a lovely weekend at the house. It was exactly as described, right down to the deer wandering by the kitchen windows in the morning. The drive to Yosemite is lovely and Mariposa is nearby for groceries or a bite to eat.

Awesome getaway!
What a wonderful place to relax! The Mariposa Getaway was just what we needed! We had amazing weather, enjoyed the spa and great accommodations. The house was clean and well maintained. Spent two days driving in and out of Yosemite...hadn't enjoyed the valley for many years. Steve & Sue are well known in Mariposa. The bonus for us...Butterfly Festival in town...very quaint and enjoyable. Beer tasting at Prospectors Brewery was fun. We zip lined at the Yosemite Zip Line in Mariposa. Learned so much about the history and people. Thanks for a great experience! We will definitely tell our friends about this great escape and come back again!

Wonderful getaway close to Yosemite
We watched the sunset, the moon rise, the stars...on our last day we watched the sunrise and listened to the birds... we were an hour from Yosemite and 5 minutes from town which we never went to because the house was fully equipped. Peaceful, quiet and a hot tub to relax after hours of hiking...

Great Place to Stay for Yosemite
This is great place to stay if you are visiting Yosemite. It is about 45 minutes from the park and provides good access to both the west and south entrances. The 3 bedrooms all had nice beds and furniture with the rest of the house nicely furnished. There is a full kitchen, 2 full baths and a laundry room with washer and dryer. There is a very nice view of the valley and town below and can all be seen from the living room and hot tub. The town of Mariposa is about 3 minutes down the hill and provides some nice local attractions, grocery store and restaurants. The visitors center in town was very helpful in guiding us on our visit to Yosemite. The hot tub was a great way to relax our tired muscles after hiking all day. We felt it was a much better value staying in this house than in any of the local hotels.

nice place
our staying at this retreat was very pleasant. The house itself and the amenities are a little bit outdated, but for the price you pay its very ok. The hot tub is not working properly, so i would not count on spending your nights in it. The kitchen has every thing you need, but all the pans and pots are kind of old. The outside deck and the views are great, and i think that counts the most, because we did not have too much time to spend indoors. From the house to the Yosemite Valley its a 1hour and 30 min drive (and we drove fast), but its still worth it. Rooms are spacious and clean, and 6 people can easily sleep there.

Very Satisfied
This is our third stay at MRR and it did not disappoint us. We really enjoy the hot tub, xtra fluffy towels, a fully stocked kitchen and we also noticed a fresh coat of paint. The fish were really biting, so it was extra special. We also tried the Zip Line attraction in Mariposa, what a blast. That really made the trip for us. Yosemite was always stunning. The BBQ had plenty of charcoal. Thanks Steve and Sue for providing us traveling public such a nice, comfortable, and homey place to stay. We will be back next year.

Great place! Close to Yosemite!
This home is clean and comfortable, really nice view and just about as close as you can get to staying near Yosemite Valley without having to reside in a hotel. The house has a solitary country feel and we saw wild turkeys and deer in the yard. The Valley proper is about an hour away, but it is a wonderful drive in and out -- although I suggest taking HWY 41 into the Valley if it is your first visit. HWY 41 has the "tunnel view" and it is spectacular. Mariposa has all the things you will need for restaurants and stores wise. We did make the trip to Oakhurst (1 hour round-trip) to take in a couple of first-run movies in their small multi-plex. I really enjoyed working with the home's owner, and he suggested visiting the Yosemite Zip Lines in Mariposa. We had two 18 year old boys with us and they had a BLAST on the zip lines! I would recommend this home to friends and family!

Fall View
Wow, we were there in October. The views were beautiful; it snowed in the mountains and the town below looked like something from a fairytale. Mariposa Ridge Retreat was everything we wanted, Warm, cozy and quiet. A real treat. We will be back, that is for sure.
