Located about 500 metres from the centre of the small village of Mariapfarr in Lungau in the middle of Salzburgerland, close to the ski resorts of Fanningberg, Katschberg, Grosseck/Speiereck and Obertauern, it offers everything you need for a top holiday!
The charming town of Mariapfarr is located in the southern part of the Salzburger Land, at 1,100 meters above sea level and is surrounded by picturesque mountain peaks. Mariapfarr is a climatic health resort and one of the sunniest in Austria, but also a true skiing paradise, it is the ideal starting point for the Lungo ski region with the Grosseck/Speiereck ski areas with 50 kilometers of pistes, Fanningberg with close to 30 kilometers of pistes (both less than 8 kilometers from the town centre), Katschberg-Aineck with 70 kilometers of pistes and Obertauern with over 100 kilometers of pistes.
There is also plenty to experience away from the pistes in the wintry holiday resort of Mariapfarr. The region offers various cross-country ski trails through the snow-covered winter landscape, guided ski tours and snowshoe hikes on the surrounding slopes. Cross-country skiing enthusiasts can enjoy the snow-covered and therefore snow-sure high-altitude trail in Mariapfarr Lignitztal. Laser biathlon can also be tried out at the Lignitz cross-country skiing centre.
Mariapfarr is the perfect destination for a successful summer holiday. Surrounded by gentle alpine meadows, imposing mountains and crystal-clear mountain lakes, it offers perfect conditions for relaxation and active holidays. Hikers and cyclists can explore numerous well-signposted trails, while for mountain bikers the holiday region offers a variety of routes for every level - from leisurely tours through the gentle valleys to challenging trails in alpine terrain.
In summer, you can not only swim in over 60 sparkling mountain lakes in Salzburger Lungau, but also in the many varied swimming and outdoor pools, such as the adventure pool in Mauterndorf, the outdoor pool in St. Michael im Lungau or the BadeINSEL in Tamsweg. In summer and winter, the Samsunn Vitality and Wellness Centre in Mariapfarr also offers plenty of swimming fun and relaxation with an outdoor pool and a modern sauna area!
During a stay from 1 June to 31 October, all guests receive the Lungaucard free of charge (except school classes). This is a discount card that gives you free access to the cable cars, swimming pools, museums and much more! You can pick it up on arrival at the tourist office in Mariapfarr.
Directly in the village or in the neighbouring communities of Mauterndorf and Tamsweg there are sufficient shopping facilities for daily needs as well as a large selection of restaurants
