Liet is really something very special. As you drive into the courtyard, you are taken aback by the beautiful views. The view to Mansencome, showing the chateau and church on the horizon, with the fields and vineyards in front of the house, take your breath away every time you see it – be it from the pool, from the kitchen window or (my favourite) from sitting on the outdoor sofa, peering at it under the plane tree. The other views from the house are not too shabby either!
Liet is extremely well furnished and is kept in spotless condition. Everything is of good quality, well cared for and very comfortable. The kitchen has absolutely everything that you may need.
The gardens and grounds are gorgeous. We spotted hares in the garden, and one morning, there were deer in the field in front of the pool. I particularly enjoyed the visits from the swallows in the evening, swooping down onto the pool to scoop up the odd floundering insect. It was also nice to see sparrows here; for some reason they are a rare sight in my garden in England these days.
In the house book, there is a map showing 5 driving/cycling routes, all starting from Condom. We visited one each day. They are well worth a visit, as they take you to lots of beautiful places, many that you would not just ‘come across’ as they are hidden in small lanes and villages.
We really enjoyed the pool as it was the same depth for its whole length and a very good depth, shoulder height on someone 5ft 7in. Marie-Louise and Steph came to tend the pool and gardens but always made sure to let us know when they were coming to ensure our privacy. They have really made Liet a very special place and are close by if you need any help. They also left a very generous welcome basket that was much appreciated!
