The Keith Farm Cabin, right on peaceful BIG Lake -48 acres!!!

Is there anything better than a trip up North to reset?! Come enjoy our family cabin (since 1908!!) on one of the best lakes in the north woods. Big Lake is a large 900 acre lake known for excellent fishing. It's quiet as it isn't on the Manitowish chain but located nicely between the towns of Boulder Junction and Manitowish Waters. We are 1/4 mile from a bike path that runs for miles and miles (and is still gorwing). The cabin is a perfect spot for days of adventuring and soaking up the best of nature. There are three bedrooms (two double beds, two twin beds, and one twin bed and one queen bed). In 2021 we remodeled bathrooms, one with shower only, and one with tub and shower. The kitchen is fully equipped. A wood fireplace in the living room creates a cozy up-north mood. Plenty of large windows offer beautiful views from every angle. There is a small front deck and outdoor chairs. The farm includes, a charcoal grill, picnic table, outdoor seating and fire pit. (BYO charcoal and firewood)

Nestled on a 48 acres of wood that butt up to Forest Service land!! Peace and serenity are plentiful. The lake and lakefront are perfect for swimming, boating, water sking, sailing, and fishing. Two Kayaks, a canoe and rowboat are provided. We have a large television in the living room and HIGH SPEED FIBER OPTIC WIFI

Please note: The Keith family also owns Keith Island, and farm is where we park and launch (north side of the dock is reserved for that use). So occasionally islanders are in and out. Feel free to say hi!! You are welcome to use the east side of the dock, and the southwest interior portion of the L, which provides the best protection in case of inclement weather. Boat size is limited to 22 feet.

Happy to answer any questions!

Simply Amazing
This was our second time staying at this cabin. The lake is amazing and so is the property. Keith the property manager was easy to communicate with and quick with a response. We saw a family of Bald Eagles everyday off the pier and cought more than enough fish for a fish fry. Book with confidence.

Another great stay!
We had a great week at the farm! It was our second time within 2 years and we hopefully will return again! The house is very clean and well appointed with everything you may need for a perfect stay in the Northwoods. We enjoyed the row boat and canoe available and liked the improvements made since last time including the chairs and the tv. Looks like internet is on the way too so that will be great for those who need to connect! I enjoy disconnecting and love the Big Lake peace and quiet! The owners do move back and forth to and from the island a fair amount so when on the shared dock, expect cars driving in and out and boats coming and going. We did bring a screened tent to keep the mosquitos away but this was not much of an issue for us this week. Thanks for a great week Barbara! We'll be back!

Just ok
The manager was prompt with communication and was fine to work with. The cabin was just not what we were expecting. No outdoor area to sit besides some rusty metal chairs or lawn chairs covered in bird poop. The home was clean on the surface but huge spiders in the bathtub and between the screens and windows. At night sleeping was difficult because of critters in the attic. The pier and water were nice for fishing or for young children to swim. My children being 10&12 would have wanted to go further out and then it was very weedy. The listing advertised a canoe and the canoe was there but no oars. The access to the bike trail was great though. You could just hop on right down the road and take bikes to restaurants and shops. Overall the stay was just ok and we probably won’t go back.

Great end of summer getaway
What a quiet lake but still huge and clean. The loudest neighbors were the loons and eagles. Virtually no road noise and the space was plenty comfortable. Best thing was - the kids had no internet access so they played board games and did puzzles when they weren’t outside. Really enjoyed trail running at the Lumber Jack Trail near Boulder Junction. Will definitely try to sneak away again.

A true northwoods experience
Everything about this property and experience was perfect! Great house, great view of Big Lake, and great peace and quiet! Fishing is great, even right off the pier with the kids. Immaculate house; very well-kept with everything you need. Loons are very active as well as eagles right above the pier. Very secluded location with absolute silence at night.

Big Lake week.
We had a wonderful week at a gorgeous property. The water was clean and clear - perfect for swimming, kayaking and floating around the dock. The lake is quiet. The loons were fun to watch and listen to. A+

Very up northy
This was a wonderful, old-school cottage in an awesome location. The updated bathrooms made this an especially comfortable stay. The only downside was not having wifi. Given our cell service provider, we also had poor cellular coverage. My husband was missing the ability to check weather to plan his fishing. That was the only downside, and definitely not enough to give less than 5 stars. We would definitely return.

Beautiful, quiet get-away!
"The Farm" is a great place to get away from it all. The house is very secluded and yet has a beautiful view of the lake. The fireplace was warm and cozy on the cool evenings and your dog will enjoy chasing the squirrels and chipmunks. Boulder Junction has fabulous donuts at "The Bakery". The house has everything you will need for a restful stay.

A perfect, peaceful paradise...
It's not often you can open your eyes in the morning and stare out at a beautiful sunrise off the lake listening to the loons. This was a perfect week, full of relaxing fun on Big Lake. The property was a little slice of heaven. If you are looking for a true up north WI get away where you can unplug from life's stressors(where there is no tv to distract you), this is it! A true northwoods feel! The owners, Lauren etc, were excellent to work with, responded to all your questions and needs very quickly. The house was set up incredibly with everything you could possibly think of, and it was immaculate! No stone left unturned! The large kitchen was equipped with every glass, bowl, pan and appliance you needed to make you feel right at home. The weber charcoal grill got a lot of use for our cookouts. They even put a screened "tent" with a picnic table outside so you could eat "bug free"(yet we didn't find the mosquitos bad at all this week). The three bedrooms are large with multiple beds and a ton of space- I just loved the "master suite" with bathroom attached, with beautifully large windows and direct views of the lake. The two bathrooms are newly remodeled and just beautiful! Linens, towels, blankets all in abundance. In the living room, there is a beautiful stone natural fireplace and nicely decorated reading and game areas(games and puzzles supplied). The stairs down to the lake are easily managed and the shared dock was perfect for our 18 foot fishing boat. The sandy bottom was just great for swimming and starts very shallow, perfect for kids or anyone who just wants a leisurely walk into the lake. The lake itself is absolutely gorgeous, we've been coming to Big Lake for many years for it's peacefulness. With the state owned land, it is not very busy, great for fishing muskies or fish to eat-we caught bluegills, perch, bass etc. Sitting on the dock every morning drinking coffee and watching the eagles fly by was just perfect. We brought our bikes since the beautifully paved bike trails are 1/4 mile from the property, and the property is almost half way between Manitowish Waters and Boulder Junction-we biked to each for ice cream and smoothies. So fun to wind along in the large pines and seeing the deer and turkeys on the way. This property is a true gem and I felt very grateful to have found it. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality and we look forward to coming back as soon as possible! Loved it!
