Willowtail Springs is nestled on 60 gorgeous acres of diverse and spectacular landscape.
Three charming cabins, the Bungalow, the Lakehouse an the Garden Cottage are available for rent individually, or together, for a larger group. A separate Working Studio for creating visual art and another larger building, the Treehouse, is available for meetings, classes, exhibitions, concerts and demonstrations. The Working Studio can be added to any retreat or rental.
All these remodeled buildings are surrounded by old forests, meadows, a private lake, with boats and fishing available for guests. Two streams and extensive lush gardens, combining native and non native perennial plants grace the grounds. Water features and sculpture, most of it for sale, add interest and excitement in the summer. Birds of many varieties live permanently or come through seasonally.
This charming cottage is the furthest away from the other guests [although there are never very many people here.] This cabin is often a favorite for artists and honeymooners. The covered deck facing the woods, private lake, and mountains is perfect for private dining, morning yoga, reading, or watching the moon come up. A second private outdoor dining area is located to the back of the cottage next to the grill and facing the woods and the wild garden.
The space is filled with artwork, antiques, and unique architectural details. Pine and walnut floors and details enhance the warmth of the space, while soft, comfortable furniture invite further relaxation. A queen-sized pillow top bed will invite you to sleep in. There is also a day bed that makes into a king bed or two twins, plus a hide-a -bed if you have an extra child.
The bathroom is filled with lovely spa products, a bathtub and TALL shower. Bathrobes are provided for your use in the cottage or to wear to the hot tub overlooking the lake. A gas fireplace in the living room contributes heat and ambiance to your stay.
Fresh coffee beans, a grinder, and coffee maker, as well as a selection of teas will help you get your day started. Kitchen utensils, full gas stove with oven, refrigerator, microwave, pots and pans, plates, glasses, colorful cloth napkins and tablecloths will make your dining experience special. Choose to eat inside, or outside on the deck or the backyard - each has a different but incredible view. Your outdoor meal can be cooked using the gas grill.
Enjoy the canoes, kayak and fishing gear if you like to fish. The lake is full of large-mouth bass, rainbow trout, brown trout and blue-gills to catch and release. There is no license required since it is a private lake. If fishing isn't your thing, canoe out on the lake and dream as you look down and dangle your fingers in the water.
End your day with a glass of wine in the hot tub that overlooks the lake. The hot tub is located away from any of the cabins and offers a clear view of the night sky. We can reserve a private time for you.
We are 10 minutes from the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park, which you can see from our property.
