To refer to Mayflower as a "Lodge" is, perhaps, presumptuous but in 1936 when my parents were offered the use of "Mayflower Lodge" for their honeymoon they were very happy to accept. One of the first buildings on Silver Lake, it had no running water, no electricity, and an outhouse. But what a view! They continued to return to Silver Lake their whole lifetime, building a camp and retiring there until their passing. Their descendants still call Silver Lake "home" with 4 generations of camp owners present. This magical lakefront antique cabin is only 6 miles from Augusta Maine and has been updated with new stainless appliances, new bedding, sofas and outdoor patio furniture, and a ROKU Smart TV and internet. The interior is entirely knotty pine including walls, ceiling and floors. There is original art, Native American pieces and even an authentic deer antler chandelier made with real shed antlers! There are 2 Stand Up Paddleboards, a 2 person Kayak, 2 single person kayaks, an aluminum row boat and a canoe for your use. No fees! In the summer months the lake water rises for comfortable swimming in it's crystal clear water. The most stunning feature of Mayflower is the huge covered balcony deck with lounge seating for 4 as well as a dining table and chairs for 4 so do enjoy those camp meals outside as you watch the sun setting to the West. Or you could take a meal sitting under the umbrella at the lower deck waterfront picnic table! Come stay and enjoy a paddle around the lake and listen to the resident loons and experience a true Maine vacation in this beautiful part of Maine. We still call it Mayflower Lodge.
