We enjoyed our stay at Pioneer Village very quiet, relaxing and comfortable cabin. The cabin was clean and had all the amenities we needed to help make out stay enjoyable. We will stay at Pioneer Village again next year.
Great cabin, excellent location…all of the wildlife (elk) was a extra treat. So peaceful near the mountain stream. And my wife even got to see snow the morning we checked out.
Our family has stayed at Pioneer Village on and off for over 50 years. Still a quiet, relaxing location that is close to heart of Maggie Valley.
Friendly management. Looking forward to a return visit!
We used to travel to Pioneer Village often when our children were younger, and haven’t been in several years. It was great to be back and see the updates and refreshing done to the property, and to enjoy the peaceful setting by the stream in cabin 5.
My husband and I have been staying at Pioneer Village Cabin 5 since 2016. We will not stay anywhere else! Its quiet, great people and we will keep coming back! Love the location! I highly recommend Pioneer Village! You will not regret it! We will be back next year! Thank you for a great stay!
Looking for a quiet real log cabin experience then Pioneer Village is the place … Guaranteed to see the Maggie Valley Elk they came right up to our cabin just beautiful!!!! The cabin has all you need for your stay and we loved it !!! We will be back!!!
We have stayed a this little jewel for 36 years. This last time was a little different I was hurt during some hiking time while visiting a nearby waterfall. I was transported out of the waterfall and straight to the hospital. Had to have surgery and had to stay longer than expected. Pioneer went above and beyond and let my husband and friend stay another night b/c it was available. I had to have surgery and a night in
The hospital they gave my husband extra pillows for my long trip home. . I will always recommend this place here. We love it
Freezing. Had to buy electric blanket because it was so cold. We were told after we finally found someone to let us in that the water had been frozen. Had to leave water running. Very dated. Heat was very minimal Wind came in around the windows. We left a day early because the accommodations were terrible. We were also told the day after we got there that we would get one set of towels for the time we were there. There is no washer and dryer in the unit. We knew very little about the area. Do you take them to the laundry mat and where is that. Very difficult to get help. No one there to find out where to put soiled linens, dirty towels once we got some and trash.
When you work everyday and get away for a relaxing time you need a little more than a request for a review a week or more later.
We enjoyed some of the upgrades given to the cabins. The new furniture, painted kitchen & bathrooms the new large screen TV mounted on wall and the updated internet.
We would have liked to have had some kind of furniture in the bed rooms with drawers to place our clothes when we unpacked. Also the lack of an electoral outlet in the bathroom was a concern for my wife.
The onsite manager, Ronnie, was great. He was very helpful and made sure all of our questions were answered.
We found some of the descriptions on VRBO were not correct. One was we did not have a hair dryer in our cabin. We also did not have any soap in our bathroom shower.
As for VRBO we were charged a $20 per day cleaning fee and yet our cabin was not serviced each day. It was cleaned when we arrived and after that it was up to us to keep it clean daily until we departed. It should not be listed as a daily fee but a per stay fee.
We found the cabin's per night charge was fair but when you add all the VRBO fees it gets on the high. We knew going in so that is on us. I think in the future I might look at other available cabins in the area because of these additional fees.
All in all we enjoyed our stay because we like the Maggie Valley/Waynesville area. We have always enjoyed staying at Pioneer Village over the years. We can see some of the improvements and I think it's a step in the right directions but some areas need to be looked at such as storage for clothing that are not on hangers.
This is very close to everything in Maggie Valley and the surrounding area. When you return for the day, you feel you are in a very private setting. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.
